I found it easier to immerse myself in the FO1/FO2 worlds. FO:NV (and FO3) were kind of hard to get into and enjoy, NV being a little more enjoyable than 3 in my opinion. It felt like there wasn't as much atmosphere as 1 and 2 had-- and now, I feel Fallout 4 has so little atmosphere, it's bland to even load the game up- I'll see the same washed-out environment for hours.
I mean, I get that the environment is MEANT to be washed out. I'm not saying that the environment is "wrong", I'm just saying it's dull due to the overall appearance of the game's 'graphics', to use a simple term. It doesn't feel crummy, gritty-- there's a lot of smooth textures versus textures with a bit of grain.
In my opinion, the lack of atmosphere that should be conveyed through proper texturing makes the game nearly impossible to continue playing without losing interest, or getting tired. You may call me a "graphics fag", but I don't agree with that. Graphics don't have to be hyper-realistic to immerse you- they just have to have the proper techniques to give it a touch of atmosphere. To give the game a bit of juice.
Of course, this is all opinion, and you should take it as opinion.
