The i7 with 2tb worth the $700 compared to the ps4 or Xbox one?

Depends on the GPU. i7 is good, but not really necessary for gaming, better to get i5 and more powerful GPU or even SSD.

would it even be possible to upgrade the parts for these?

These things are essentially gaming laptops. It's got an 860m in it which is weaker than a 750ti even under ideal conditions (i.e. if we pretend heat isn't a physical phenomenon). You could upgrade to something like a 970m which is a weaker 960 with even shittier memory, but even if you could find a place to buy the chip you'd be paying as much as the computer just to do it and it'd be a pain in your ass to boot.
Again, these things are laptops. Yes, you can technically upgrade them. That's the only reason they're this cheap at all. If they were microatx with real parts there's no way they could hit these price points in that form factor.

You either buy a console or you buy a proper pc, it's as simple as that.

Even the $449 i3 version will be better than the PS4 or Xbone. The Syber Steam Machine was on sale the other day for $299 that was probably the one to get. At $299 literally cheaper than building.

>Missing the point this hard.
Obviously a handbuilt pc is better for the money but not everybody is a big nerd with the time and interest to do all that. Steammachines are consoles for playing steam games.
