CCCP/Media Player Classic just is better. It's kindat elitism because your everyday user wont notice the difference but modded MPC is just built better. VLC has trouble with 10-bit video, ordered chapters, it doesn't support as many filetypes as MPC, subtitle effects have been a bitch to get working for fansubbers and the general playback quality can be worse.
If you havent had problems with VLC it's not worth it to change to MPC and the codec configs.

Hell, way back I foolishly bought Bayonetta for PS3. I wasn't able to get dodge timing right at all.
Way later without much practice in spectacle fighter games I got it on Wii U, sure it may be not solid 60 fps, but it was certain improvement.
And I was able to get timing right when I needed to.
You need 60 fps for any twitchy action game where you need to react quickly. Not just for eyecandy reason.
Because with double the framerate, you have double chance to get the timing of your actions right.

The only advantage the PS really has over PC are Japanese games, which don't sell all that well regardless. It's not a coincidence that Japanese Steam gamers cannot buy Japanese games on Steam, forcing their only means to be a PlayStation console. It's also not a coincidence that Sony's closest companies always release "the previous edition" on PC while the PS gets the newest version. Historically, the technologically weakest system out of the major competitors is the winner.
The NES was weaker than the Sega Master System.
The SNES was weaker than the Sega Genesis.
The PS1 was weaker than the Saturn or the N64.
The PS2 was weaker than the Gamecube or the XBox.
The Wii was weaker than the PS3 or the 360.
This generation, the strongest machine is winning hands-down.
I blame Nintendo for fumbling the Wii U's library so completely. The whole point of releasing a technologically unimpressive console is to spend the time and money you save making games for your machine, and they just didn't do that.
