Honestly? Probably MegaMan X5 or Cybeast Gregar.

Either those or Dark Souls. Bayo 1 is bullshit at points but the whole infinite continues thing kinda negates it.

I enjoy a challenge but I don't play a lot of games that would outright be considered super difficult, and most things I play on Normal. Plus I can't fucking stand platformers and the only roguelikes I play are DF Adventure (which can't be beaten) and Binding of Isaac (fuck playing through the game 15 times to get the real ending).

Hardest mode in Ninja Gaiden Black. The final boss had a grab attack with almost no telegraph that couldn't be blocked and was a bitch to dodge. When, not if, it hit you it would do 2/3 of your health.

iirc if you had to restock on healing items (you could hold 3) you had to go back a short ways and refight two fairly difficult bosses before going through the final boss gauntlet and fighting the two forms of the final boss.

Super R-Type.

>>
>>317779414
Not him, but Dark Souls II wasn't hard in the slightest, it was far too easy, although I can't speak for the DLC because I haven't touched that game since I beat it pretty much day one. And although for some reason I feel like Bloodborne was hard, I didn't die to half the bosses.

Difficulty ranking from personal experience;
DarkSouls>Demon's=Bloodborne>DarkSouls2
And the first Dark Souls isn't even that difficult after you find a moveset you're into.
>>
>>317783016
It does all come down to personal experience, doesn't it?

I'd rank Bloodborne the hardest due to the Chalice Dungeons alone. That, and certain bosses like Darkbeast Paarl and Gehrman always fuck my shit up. Meanwhile, Dark Souls only has a single boss that I've never lost to Capra Demon, and Dark Souls II has a few that give me a hard time.

Then about a month and a half ago, I played Demon's for the first time. Two deaths to Leechmonger, one to Penetrator, two to False King Allant. Besides that, I beat every single boss on my first try.

It all comes down to play style, I guess. The guy out there bragging that he beat Defiled Watchdog first try is the same guy who takes over a dozen attempts on Prowling Magus and Congregation.
>>
>>317783329
Capra Demon? The boss that's specifically designed to cheap kill you?
>>
>>317783329
The boss that kicked my shit in the hardest was Fume Knight.
>>
>>317783447
So people say. I hear countless horror stories about the fucker.

Me, I start my killing the first dog. Then I dodge the demon and run up the stairs, where the second dog comes after me and I kill it. Then the demon itself is slow and easy to tear to pieces. Did this blind on my first attempt by just reacting to the situation at hand, and it's worked every time since, even on NG+.
>>
>>317780739
Jesus christ, that must've taken some time. I would've tried if there wasn't there whole "do it without dying" part.

Call of Duty World at War on veteran. Those fucking grenades.

Have beaten shit like ninja gaiden 2 and all the souls games. Try getting 100 grenades thrown at you a minute and if one blows up in your radius you die instantly, and since you're running around like an idiot, you're liable to die to a single bullet. No mercy on that shit.

>>317783016
I died quite a bit in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, but actually getting properly stuck on a boss is so much more rare in Dark Souls II. If you have trouble with a boss (which you won't, because all of them are just *wait for co-ordinated attack, dodge, attack back*), or with the stupid enemy placement before the bosses, you can just throw yourself at it and get through it eventually. The same can't be said for Demon's and Dark. When people get stuck in those games, they get fucking stuck.

I would have done that but in the end I was missing out on a bandage or two and refused to google it, even though I went through the trouble of beating all the worlds without dying. I have some autism where having to google or ask for help in getting an achievement somehow diminishes the accomplishment it's self. That's the reason I haven't 100% Dark Souls and other such games, I'm missing an item or two and won't google it.

I still haven't beaten Panzer Dragoon: Orta. Actually the game isn't that hard, the final boss just handed me my ass so many times, so badly that I quit. I still don't know what the fuck I'm supposed to do during some of his attacks, it's just automatic damage no matter what.

Devil May Cry 3 on Dante Must Die mode.

1. Enemies have 250 percent the health they have on Normal Mode.

2. Enemy aggression also has increased at about the same percentage. They will not hesitate to attack you in this mode, whereas in Normal and Hard they often give you plenty of breathing room to attack.

3. All enemies gain the ability to get a Devil Trigger buff that like quadruples their defense and increases their stagger threshold. For example, a given mob of five enemies will enter into this mode AUTOMATICALLY once you've killed the first 2 enemies of that mob.

4. You die in about 3-4 hits. And considering that enemies love to combo you and attack you in unison, you die pretty quickly. A single rain of ice from the Cerberus boss will take half your life. And he LOVES to spam that attack.

5. A lot of enemies gain new moves exclusive to this difficulty level. Like the Lusts gain an extremely fast uppercut attack. The bosses gain new moves too. Like how Vergil has a new spinning sword aura attack when he is about to go into Devil Trigger mode.

It is fucking hard. It WILL force you to get good at the game. And you can't cheese encounters with items either, unless you want to spend 100-plus hours farming. For example, it takes about 30 Holy Waters to kill the Arkham boss fight in Dante Must Die mode, and considering that each Holy Water costs about 30,000 red orbs to farm, that is a hell of a lot of farming.

Arkham is just plain bullshit. Nobody likes him, not even the best DMC3 players who post god-tier combo videos on the Internet.

Having beaten DMD on DMC3, it's a manageable difficulty, but is an incredible shock for anyone going into it the first time. Nobody expects the difficulty to jump that much.

Very Hard mode is a cakewalk in comparison to DMD.

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins, I did that a couple years ago when I was finishing off Ninja Gaiden 3 and other classics I hadn't gotten around to.

I also got everything in the Ninja Gaiden reboot, (never got Black), but it has been so long I forget how it all worked anyway.

I'm working on doing things beyond full platinum in the first Bayonetta (no cheesing), really wish Bayonetta 2 hadn't fucked up the battle system and enemies. At least the costumes are fun, and the new weapons at least look cool as shit.

Strangely, I'm fucking rubbish at Bloodborne, pitkced it up yesterday and I'm going through it without a guide, I got fucked by the white-wolf boss in the Cathedral. Not really good at figuring out the pattern, had to cheese to win with some firebombs and that item that stops healing, it took me a couple of slightly boozy hours to get past. I'm never going to stop using the goddamn axe though, fuck do I miss the OP polearms from Demon and Dark Souls. I really wish Bloodborne had the awesome sound cues for specific attacks that Bayonetta has all the time, that kinda shit is sweet.

>>317785563
I'm never doing that shit, I'd rather just be a casual and enjoy Darius Burst or something. Maybe if they had cute shota characters.

I've gotta say that's bullshit.

I've beaten DSI multiple times, and DSII once because I don't hate myself.

I still haven't beaten DeS. It's way less forgiving than Dark Souls, especially with the lack of Estus.
>>
>>317789904
Not him, but I do the same thing for other games.

It took me 2 months of careful planning and learning to beat Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja mode. It took about the same amount of time to beat Vanquish on God Hard mode.

I might have beaten these games quicker if I didn't spend 10 hours a day working and another 3 hours commuting to and from work. But I persevered and beat them in the end.

Thr reason I do it is because of the satisfying sense of accomplishment. Plain and simple. And few games feel as satisfying to beat as games like Ninja Gaiden 2, Vanquish, Devil May Cry 3 or other pure action games like that on the hardest difficulties.

Because when you beat those pure action games (or shoot-em-ups), it is YOU who beat the game. You won because of your skill, unlike in RPG games where stats and gear carry you through to the end and are more important than your skills.

I'm currently practicing some of the Vanquish challenge trials. This guy can beat Challenge 6 in 3:43. I can beat it in 9 minutes so far, but with enough practice and planning, I'm sure I can get it at around 4-5 minutes as well.

>especially with the lack of Estus.

There is more grass in Demon's Souls than there is in my front yard. Grass that is very easy to farm. Other things that significantly make Demon's Souls easier than any other entry:

1. Dumbest AI in the franchise, which is understandable considering that it's the first Souls game. But seriously. They are dumb. The miners in Stonefang Tunnel take 10 years to attack you. The blue and red-eyed knights in Boletaria are even easier backstab bait than the Black Knights in Dark Souls 1. Same with the Skeleton Knights in Shrine of Storms (which happen to be the most aggressive enemies in the game but are equally as dumb as the others).

2. Only three bosses that can even be remotely called hard. False King Allant, Flamelurker and Maneaters. Each of them, by the way, also have dumb AI, but actually try to kill you and pose a threat unlike joke bosses such as Fool's Idol, Dragon God, Maiden Astraea, Dirty Colossus, Old Monk, Storm King and -- the worst Souls boss of them all -- Adjudicator.

3. Cling Ring almost negates the half-life Soul form penalty. Thief's Ring is broken. That's why wearing those two in conjunction just breaks the game.

I don't say this often, but if you think Demon's Souls is the hardest entry in the SoulsBorne franchise, then you seriously need to take off your nostalgia goggles.

I just beat dmc1,3, and 4 on dmd and honestly 3 on dmd was not all that difficult. Sure there was some trouble spots but nothing too insane.

dmc1 on dmd on the other hand was just stupid hard. Even on hard regular enemies were 3-4 shotting you.

dmc4 just gave you too many stupidly strong moves that make it trivial. Nero's charge shot level 3 and Dante's distorted real impact come to mind. Especially dante's DRI, you do it right and you can take off 60% of a bosses health in one attack.

1 DMD was hardest followed by 3 and 4 last but I had the most fun with 3.
