My cat sleeps next to me on the couch, hearing her little snores and grumbles while I'm all cuddled up next to my heater is super comfy.
I got zhako parrot as well, but mine's aggressive as hell so I have to keep him in the cage or he'll destroy my furnishing. Most of the time he's just shouting phrases he knows. And my dog just sleeps around or plays with the parrot.

Used to have a dog until he died a couple of years ago after a fit, that ride to the vet trying to keep him still and calm is still burned into my mind.
We also had 2 cats since then that we took in as they were strays, and around a year ago near christmas we took in a third little stray that needed a home for the winter but we couldn't bring ourselves to put it back out so now we have 3.

Half the time when using the litterbox, will only get in halfway--and only her front half, then shit all over the floor. Then she sees all the poop and throws up.

It is less about male and female and more about the personality. I had a chill mother cat give birth to about 5 kittens. Out of the five one gray male was extremely cool and my favorite cat of all time where one female calico was too shy for her own good and even to this day don't like anyone touching her. The others were given away very quickly and honestly were forgettable for what little time we had them. The calico live with my grandmother with a stray calico with a piece of her ear missing that my grandmother found at the mall one day. The stray must had hang around people non-stop because she have the balls of steel and couldn't care less if you are carrying firewood over her, she will just lay there. She will also rub against you and kinda a general attention whore. The two cats look alike but you can tell right away which is which just by the way they act.
In short it is really all about the cat itself and not the gender though I found male to be more fun in general. Also how they were raised also change how they act may it be for the better or for worst.

Man, African Greys are so cool. I have a cockatiel. He likes to sit on my shoulder or on my TV while I play vidya. He also likes to climb on my laptop and rip the keys off the keyboard so I have to chase him away from that.

I kinda want a pet, but I know I don't have the time for it. I run a local sports club, have a full time job, and love to play vidya and ride motorcycles.
Maybe when the sports club ends or when my job switches. I don't wanna leave a pet alone for a long time.
I also grew up with pets, so I've got this vacant place in my heart for one. So whenever I'm at someone's house and they've got a pet, I'm all over them. I'm a grown ass man loving the pets of my friends. I regret nothing. But when life settles, I'll get my own pet.
