It's really only necessary if you're gonna PvP, or shit at dodging. As long as it's not your first "Souls-Like" game, you should do just fine not worrying about Parries.

You can dodge at an angle. In a lot cases where you aren't sure how you should avoid something dodging at an angle towards the Boss/enemy is the best thing to do since you will be able to counterattack.
Do the chalice dungeons as you progress, so it doesn't feel like a slog later, especially since by end game you will be over level for half of it.
Don't be stingy, so spend blood echoes on blood vials and bullets, you don't really need to level up that often.
There is an important side quest after first area some people miss, all I'll say is don't be afraid to WALK back to the first area once in a while.

Do Chalice Dungeons. There are parts where you can easily grind up over 130,000 blood echoes in less than 5 minutes. Then spend them all on Blood Vials.

Level 65 is recommended level first playthrough. I would recommend trying with your character and remember to bring plenty of beast blood pellets and the shield for those I'm fucked better block moments

The two off-handed Arcane weapons are great for power-damaging a boss that's almost dead. The Flamesprayer especially just eats through a fair number of both basic enemies and bosses.
Meanwhile, the Tontrius is a fantastic Arcane-scaling weapon, and in NG+ The Burial Blade is an absolute machine of ass kicking.

Second one is only applicable if you get squished into a corner. Don't get squished into a corner.

No, they are issues with the game.
He's just constantly flailing all the time and it's a stupid fucking form of attacking plus it's annoying as shit. Especially the windshield wiper arms which sometimes hit you twice or right when his swing is done while you're dodging for some reason
PLUS his moveset just seems like some stuff cobbled together from different bosses with maybe a one or two original moves
The second phase is so much better and the fight should have just been more of that and less bullshit
