So far the best for me is the Brotherhood Power Armor.
The damage and rad resistance coupled with the nearly 500 lb carry weight I have when adding in perks, pocketed armor and calibrated legs make it so, so good.
Plus when you have the max rank for the Nuclear Physicist perk, you never need to worry about running out of fusion cores, I have about 50 of them and it takes maybe 1 or 2 hours for a single one to run out and by then I either would have found a few from exploring or have scavenged enough loot to pay for 5 of them.

Why is there 0 good armor available in beginning of game? Everything weighs like 20 units for 3 dmg resistance, and apparently the shit needed to mod armor is the hardest stuff to find in the wasteland. 90% of my inventory is junk I've tagged from the crafting screen and still haven't been able to use any of it.

So I've been using the gatling laser and it turns out that it's bugged. Apparently when you switch out power cores you don't lose the empty one and you can just keep firing.
