Basically they fit the "underdog" theme of each member of the Horde, since they're half a kingdom with 90% of their people dead with a massive scar of undeath constantly seiging the city with a big ass empire of trolls breathing down their neck waiting to literally eat them. And the Alliance refused to help them in any way, so they asked the other team who was fine with it because Thrall.
Can't say it didn't pay off since they single-handedly closed the player faction gap and are the de facto magic experts whenever Horde needs them.

There's nowhere else to go. Players will literally have legendary items in EVERY SLOT this expansion. They are the "leaders" of their class. They are on a first-name basis with every major lore character. Even Kiljaeden and Archimonde reference them personally.
All that's left is Sargeras swooping down from the Twisting Nether and calling the player the chosen one, or becoming the warchief/king.

Players asked for "War in warcraft" and blizzard jumped at it with Cata, then they realized they couldn't do shit without both sides getting anal raged at lore victories and so they removed it.
The war between the Horde and Alliance has no true lore standing, the introverted war shit in Cata and MOP was forced to appease the players who thought it had any lore relevancy.
In the truest sense, the horde and alliance wouldn't exist if blizzard followed their own lore from Warcraft III.
This is actually better, because now the focus is on Azeroth's enemies like it was with the first three expansions, rather than the stupid "war" between the horde and alliance.

The new pvp sounds even worse than Draenor, which I didn't think would be possible. Holinka is a horrible dev who is crashing that plane with no survivors.
Raiders are happy because they are finally getting their way and getting a 95% pve oriented game. But pve is fucking dull as shit after you've done every boss 3 times or more.
Anyway idc, I canceled my sub for good in Draenor. I regretted Cataclysm, Pandaria, and Draenor. They were all terrible purchases. The game peaked in WOTLK and those days are never coming back.

The only other person viable for the title would be Lorthemar, and I guarantee you that there's probably going to be conflict between the two after all the stuff with the Northrend invasion and his current mentality to rise the blood elves up to new heights.
Sylvanas has had multiple victories under her belt and has successfully assisted the Horde in multiple ways, not even just in raising new Forsaken. That, and the fact that it's obviously a temporary thing until Vol'jin pops back up, probably in the second patch if they actually decide to delve into Zandalar, which I'm sure is part of the reason why he's missing. She's the best candidate.
