I restarted my character, so I haven't gotten to castle yet.

Besides, I usually build up Sanctuary because it's where several named NPCs as well as your pre-war home is. As the General of the Minutemen, wouldn't you bolster that naturally defensive spot into a bustling metropolis even if you take Castle as your main base? A Constantinople to your Rome?

>>317538091

top kek I love it
>>
Damn, that's some good shit you did there.

I don't know where to build my shit for the moment.

I used the console to make the OP image, but only to clip some things into each other. Settlement size, resources, etc. aren't modded at all. Just be sure to scrap weapons from your inventory off the ground of your settlement rather than the benches so it tricks the settlement size limit into thinking you're taking stuff away.

The 'tcl' command is great for clipping those junk walls together so they don't have spaces all over the place. I use them for my outlying farm settlements which don't have nearly as much space as Sanctuary or Castle.
>>
>>317539669

>but only to clip some things into each other

So you have to use console commands after all. Fucking retarded, Bethesda.
>>
>>317537895

How many settlements can you have? I got like 7 or 8 places already and am running low on craft material to actually expand them beyond some walls, basic turrets and beds.
>>

I built this without console commands, as well as repaired the walls at Castle.

Let me tell you it's a pain in the ass to get it meticulously correct though, and the clipping just makes it easier and can even add some flair to your settlement. Concrete foundations will naturally clip through the bottom of the ground to even out your walls and building so stuff isn't floating in the air and inadvertently look like shit. Maybe you're not as anal about it as I am, but even foundations can be a little fussy in some spots.

Also remember: clipping doesn't help you when trying to clip into the world's geometry that you can't alter. You just have to suck it up and try your best to make things fit without looking like shit.
>>
>>
>>317540073
a lot, to get more materials just scrap everything in every settlement you don't need. it all amasses over time
>>

>Just be sure to scrap weapons from your inventory off the ground of your settlement rather than the benches so it tricks the settlement size limit into thinking you're taking stuff away

Why? I don't understand
>>
Can you make settlements anywhere by just spawning a workbench?
>>
>>317540463
Not him but i have a question, is there a way to scrap junk en masse? or is transferring all the junk to the workbench enough?
>>
>>317540834
yes there is a mod on nexus for it
>>
>>317540834
you can but there are issues with enemy spawns and the cells not being marked to be persistent

mods will fix this eventually
>>
>>317538503
Can you get rid of the eggs on the ground at the Castle? They bug the shit outta me and I can't seem to delete them.
>>
>>317540834
No, there will probably be a mod for that at some point there. It's not like your hurting for settlements in this either. I'm at at-least 13 or so.
>>
>>317540998

Transferring junk is enough, the game will scrap the shit it needs when creating stuff.
>>
Has there been any evidence scrap benches aren't completely worthless?
>>
>>317541108
They disappear eventually. Just wait a few days or a week in game.
>>
>>317540817

So the settlement size meter in the top right of your UI when you build stuff will steadily increase. This is to make sure players aren't cutting Todd Howard's dick off when their frames go to shit when they tried to make a metropolis with a computer that barely meets minimum requirements. For those of us with decent computers, you can build far beyond the limit and still maintain good frames, but regardless the limit is universal for any player.

So if you want you can download a mod to manually get around the settlement size limitation, but if you're a console peasant you will have to trick the settlement size limit into thinking you're removing objects in your settlement. Say you want to add onto your settlement's wall but you can't build anymore --> go into inventory, drop all those shitty pipe pistols raiders piss out on a daily basis, then in Workshop mode scrap them while they're on the ground.

The size limit bar will steadily decrease as you scrap each weapon, thus allowing you to continue adding more stuff in your base. It's tedious but console players can't mod.
>>
I hate how you can't remove piles of rubble
I hate how you craft things in a ruined state, it makes no sense.
I hate how despite it being 200+ years post bombs, people would rather live in rusty tin shacks than sweep out the dust and rubble from a building that is still standing and live in those.

>>
How do you get more settlers? I've tricked out Sanctuary and have most categories above 45 yet I still only have 12 settlers including named NPCs?
>>
>>317541197
they pretty much are but after a point you get so much settlers you might as well assign one to it
>>
>>317541762

>>
>>317541762
It's tied to your base charisma +11. I have 6 charisma and 17 unnamed settlers at the drivein movie place and can't put anyone else there
>>
>>317541197

Scrap benches passively create stuff like concrete/steel/nuclear material and puts it in your workshop.

As you might imagine, multiple settlements having these will add up if you supply line them.

>Settlement population is limited by the player character's Charisma. The Default Cap is 10, +1 for each point in charisma, meaning one can have a population cap of 20 (10+10). This can be further increased by wearing charisma boosting clothing and consumables. It is possible to get 38 settlers with a base Charisma of 10, the Charisma bobblehead, wearing Agatha's dress/Reginald's Suit as well as a Charisma-boosting hat and glasses, and consuming Grape Mentats, beer with the Party Boy level 2 perk, Day Tripper and X-Cell. Go to a settlement, wear the gear, pop the chems, and move settlers from the settlement to the desired settlement.

If it doesn't drain that makes me think it doesn't, but even if it just needs one to show you have them that's fine. I just don't want to be draining them twice as fast for the sake of looking cool, since really my companion is just there to hold shit and for the atmosphere.
>>
>>317550890
I think it needs one in it. If you leave armor sitting around with a core in it, NPCs can and often will hop into it and walk around/walk off with it. Usually only if combat starts, they'll jump in it to defend themselves and won't leave it until you force them to. Take the batteries out when you park your armor anons.

Caravan traders can use the power cores they carry to take your unpowered suits and run off too.

Anon, it's 210 years after the bombs fell. People have been living in some of the places for over 100 years continuously now.

Sure, it's not going to be spotless and the materials aren't going to be factory-fresh, but people would certainly have painted some shit and swept the floors every once in awhile. Every building you enter looks like the bombs dropped yesterday, when in reality it would take someone less than a day to clean the debris out of some of these places and maybe a sweeping a week to keep it clean. When you're living your entire life in a shithole you do what you can do make it less shitty, especially when it's so easy.

They should of just put you in birds eye view and let you drag and drop buildings and shit. Having to walk to every area was retarded as fuck. And clipping to walls is done horribily. Half the time it's clipping at the wrong sides or it won't let you clip until you get just the right position.

Also you can't level the land to be the same elevation so half the shit looks retarded when a house is half floating or going right through the terrain.

>Radiation isn't anti-life
This, I love fallout but why do they treat it like this? Sure, the places that got hit by multiple nukes might have no normal plant life, but places like the Commonwealth which evidently only received the one nuke should have some vibrant plant life taking over everything. Nuclear winter wouldn't cause all future plants to be weirdly brown and leafless. A post-apocalyptic setting like in the last of us would be cool for a fallout game, non-radioactive food would still be hard to come by and all the normal rules would apply but the city would be overgrown with nature just like it would in reality.

without (1+1) it's just 2 + 0 = 4, which is incorrect

No, he didn't. You are just too retarded to comprehend English.

He said at E3 that only Xbone would get mod support, and that would take a while to go into the game, because they have to okay any mod that'll go up on their site.

If you bought a PS4 for that, then you are just stupid as fuck, because it was told from the beggining Xbox only.

Depends on the town, but most of them were built onto pre-war buildings like: >>317557793

Regardless that's not what I mean. What I mean is, by looking at it you can tell some some random bozo put that town together. The layout and design doesn't make sense, it's just "BIGGER MEANS BETTER" design, crudely thrown together.
It's like when you see a location or housing mod on the Nexus, and they always stand out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the wasteland because of how amateur the design is.

Like the fucking side quests in New Vegas.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Flags_of_Our_Foul-Ups

I randomly picked this and it's a good example. It's another NCR quest but has an actual story behind it, has you deal with several characters that all have their own personalities in which you choose who's advice you take. The result ends up affecting the ending, too

Even unmarked, insignifcant quests that have no impact on the story like dragging the Rangers corpse out of a Friend trap so he can have a proper funeral is better than the majority of content in 4

Plus the covenant investigation, the railroad and bos dilemma late game, many of the Institute missions both before and after the main ending, the ability to pay off bounties instead of rescuing kidnapped settlers to mention a few.
