If I've learned something is that you can't just post your art and hope followers will come in, if you're just starting you NEED to go out there and make friends with other artists who will share your stuff with their followers (and do the same holy shit don't be that asshole guy) and so on, after you get at least 1000 followers then it becomes kind of automatic from that point on since you'll have a big enough fanbase that will reblog your stuff giving you new followers. That's how it works on tumblr anyways.
