It's been made really soloable. It's not too late, but any quest that requires you to gather items is going to make you literally gather the items since no one bothers selling stuff on the AH except end-game items.
That being said you don't have to do any of those quests but a small few, and you can level up extremely fast if you do the Rhapsody missions to unlock the permanent exp boosts.
Got dismissed by most because it doesn't really break the typical turn based RPG mold I'm terms of gameplay.
However, the gameplay was still serviceable and it excelled in all other aspects. Got overshadowed a lot by Dark Cloud.

The main problem it had (besides not being like the amazing E3 footage, or even Bioshock 1) was just how easy the game was. Even at when my computer took a 5fps nosedive I had no trouble killing mooks, and vigors were only needed on maybe Handymen and Firemen for me.
Otherwise I loved all the little ideas and aesthetics that survived the last-minute redo, especially the sudden Comstock House and New York shit.

The stealth was a good yet challenging break from all the action, especially with how quickly you'd die if you fuck up. Actually made me have to use traps for once (plus the arrows).

I understand that, I thought Killer Is Dead was wonderful, my third favorite Suda game behind Killer 7 and No More Heroes. Shadows Of The Damned was Suda's weakest work in my honest opinion, or even Flower Sun and Rain, it was a really niche game that I don't ever see mentioned ever.
