and you killed this guy why?

He's a shriveled old prick

He asked me to murder the the Brotherhood of Steel, and FO3 had conditioned me to believe they were good paladins instead of morally neutral techno-hoarders.

I am filled with regret.

Got NV on my backlog, worth playing before Fallout 4, or is it going to corrupt me if I wait till afterwards.

It will corrupt you unless you really, really really hate the graphics. Otherwise, it's entirely better than 4.

Do you guys miss Speech checks in Fallout 4? That was one of my favourite things in New Vegas... I just don't like this random chance element to Charisma checks - I find myself just reloading the save so I can win.

Do I need that 4gig mod, or something? It's not a Win10 issue, looked all that up. I never get an error message, just crashes and sends an error report. Thank goodness for autosave, I've lost a max of 10 minutes of play.
>>
>>316852485

You should get the 4gb RAM patch, it eliminates most of the crashes, and get New Vegas Anti-Crash for the rest of the potential crashes.

Me again, seems that NV4GB is an exe, but I need to run NVSE for some of my current mods to work. How do I go about that?
>>
>>316849316
Killing them would be a good decision though. Even Yes Man says they're going to be a massive pain if you decide to leave them alone.
>>
>>316853623
I wasn't playing my character as a pragmatist.
>>
>>316853468

Look up New Vegas Script Extender, go through the installation process for that, then launch New Vegas using the exe from the 4gb patch folder.

It's kinda archaic to go through, but the game runs like a charm after that.
>>
>>316851183
This. Does Bethesda really think people won't just reload the save every time they fail a speech check to random chance. I guess Todd's pride got in the way.

Because he has a massive power source and an insanely strong army and what does he do? He leaves vegas as a fucking casino.

Could have turned the city into one of safest places in the wasteland for all settlers but is a greedy old fuck who just wants money.
>>
Because the man thinks that we should just run away from our problems and scrounge up what remains of society and fly off to Mars or the moon or something. He's got a huge disdain for anyone who isn't a literal Yes Man, he murders people for disagreeing with him, and he's incredibly vain.

Yes, he's a smart man, and yes, his smarts helped the Mojave flourish for a short time, but the man wasn't looking to keep society going, he wanted him and his little group to go to the stars and ignore everything around him.

robots that originate from exactly one known place in the region--the lucky 38--means its mr house's caravan, which makes it automatically of more interest to factions who want to take the strip from him over just a regular courier

he also hired 6 couriers carrying random shit to further split it up

I didn't say any of that, I said that the world outside of the Strip was populated by junkies and raiders and monsters, AND NCR/Legion depending on who you side with.

With all of these maniacs running around, you would think that a company whose job is to deliver goods acrross irradiate warzones would have an armed escort or two to prevent what exactly happened to them.

Like I said earlier, even the shittiest travelling merchant with nothing to sell has an armed guard with combat armor.

because it's lazy writing.

same thing with how this game takes place in a universe where a point-blank shotgun blast to the back of the unarmored head results in a tick of health being taken away and merits nothing more than a "huh? Who's there?" as a reaction, and the main antagonist does nothing more than pop a couple of 9mm bullets in your general direction and just ASSUME that you're dead.

Even Far Cry 3 had better "protagonist escapes certain death" scenarios because at least their antagonist was clinically retarded or at the very least not all of his marbles were there which could explain his behavior.
>>
>>316849007
>and you killed this guy why?

Here's the thing. In these kind of games why wouldn't it make sense (when given the option) to be the one that shapes the future? Are you saying the character you play as doesn't know what they want? They're incompetent?

On hardcore heal isn't instant.
I've been playing for an int-char character and game was a pain in the ass, so I went to old world blues because I've met the requirements, and that was few days of really some hard fucking survival, no ammo, everything breaking, scraping shit to do 1 more quest, finding whatever there is, equipping it and trying to do 1 more quest that way etc. After that thought I gained bunch of levels and cool equipment, teleport to a base with a bunch of OP shit, eventually picked up jury rigging and rad child and game became a breeze. So it is possible to be bad at fallout at the beginning of it. Easily, even.

>Choosing anything but Indipendent.

Kek, have fun with your inability to properly support the people you're attempting to protect. You stretch your borders so far beyond the place they can even be that you're going to find out the hard way what happens to countries that are far too big for their own good. You will end up being so massive you'll be unable to defend your borders, and it will leave you vulnerable to attack from every junkie, raider, and rivaling nation in the country. Legion can literally just walk into Shady Sands at this point and wreck the fuck out of your precious home, just because you thought owning a big slab of concrete was worth it.

The problem with the NCR besides that however is their ability to use democracy, they just want to be the only person in the planet, and hate sharing. They could prosper under indipendent rule of Vegas, letting the people thrive due to a person having the ability and resources to support the local farms, while feeding electricity to NCR territory for trade such as caps and food. Instead, you choose to lead your troops so far east that you'll find your empire in ruin by the time you return. The legion sees this, and when presented with this they agree and decide to do the logical thing and protect their own home until they have the resources and power to expand, rather than haphazardly throwing their troops into the fire for no good reason other than FOR GLORY.

>The Courier, fair and kind-hearted to those in the Wasteland, ensured that Mr. House would keep New Vegas stable and secure for future generations. Mr. House afforded him/her every luxury at his disposal in the Lucky 38, out of gratitude - and a quiet sense of pride for his choice in lieutenants.

I don't recall exactly what he says about space desu.

Victor wasn't following you. He was already stationed at Goodsprings for years beforehand. Though I wouldn't put it past House to have securitrons planted along the courier's routes years in advance.

It wouldn't though, the only reason the Courier got jumped is because Benny got access to the plan and knew about the chip being transported by you. That wouldn't have changed no matter what you were carrying.

I don't think so. Go back to where any of his previous bodies would be, he's not there. There's nothing supporting the idea that he's not simply following you.

I think it was for the best. Ultimately, you're going into some factions that are simply incompatible with each other, and not everyone can be convinced with words to work together. It'd be like brokering a peace with the NCR and the legion diplomatically (Which might be cool, but I don't see any way that's going to happen. The legion needs an enemy to stay functional, and the NCR is too imperialistic to keep their word if the legion ever weakens.).

In Gamebyro games, I would base zero facts on the behaviour of corpses and whether they stick around or not.

I think there's a blank securitron in Nipton that Victor hops to. If what you say is true, there'd be two securitrons at once.

If anything, Victors old corpse disappearing is probably because they revived the corpse instead of creating a new instance of Victor.

I you mention him popping up everywhere when he talks you when when you first enter the Strip, he'll tell you that he jumped from body to body to keep up with you. Probably because House didn't want a securitron roaming by itself. Victor just makes it look like he's rolling from place to place. The old bodies not being present is just laziness on the dev's part.

>>316850984
Because that would allow a perfect ending, letting everybody live in harmony. Fallout isn't about "making a cool energy weapon" or whatever the quote is, it's about "exploring the ethics of a post-nuclear society". As badly as it's written, I prefer some of the factions needing to be gotten rid of for certain loyalties.

Securitrons belong to Mr. House, one of them traveling a long distance carrying something would be an obvious target to everyone. The Courier on the other hand only got jumped because Benny got the information about the plan, without that you would have delivered the package with absolutely no problems. I mean the most the courier had to worry about were possibly raiders or bandits, both NCR and Legion tend to leave couriers alone.
>>
>>316858927
This is an RPG and not an FPS. The rules are different.
>>
House had his time and his fun. When you're almost literally a fossil it's probably you turned over the reins.
>>
>>316865160
In the Mojave filled with Deathclaws, Cazadores, Fiends with an obscene amount of energy weapons, and Legion running around. Having one by itself would be too vulnerable, while have a bunch of them would draw the attenion of people who don't like House. Also, we don't really know where the chip actually came from, so we have to wonder if it would even be possible for a securitron to go out far enough to get it.
>>
I did like that you could get the BoS and NCR to work together, but that was ultimately a cooperative peace. It's not like one or the other really liked each other, but they both were compatible enough to be diplomatic about shit. At least on the surface.

Considering all the random shit in NV that nobody will ever explore, they should have cut all of that and put more resources into the Legion side of the river.

Did you know north of the New Vegas entrance, there's an entire town called North Vegas with a bunch of side quests?
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/North_Vegas_Square

Or here
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Aerotech_Office_Park

Most of Searchlight could have been cut.

Maybe Camp Guardian.

Nobody goes there and the side quests are boring fetch quests.
>>
>>316867692
Holy shit i never even knew about North Vegas you just blew my mind sir
>>
>>316867692
maybe that's easier said than done. Removing a couple of camps/settlements probably requires way more resources than building whole new areas, with their respective characters and quests.

I do get what you're saying though.

My official Courier sides with The House, I think he's too charming to kill.

Killed him in the other playthroughs just to see the other endings, I think he'd understand.
>>
>>316869208
Couriers transport all kinds of stuff, so no one courier would attract anymore attention than they normally would. A securitron means that House is involved and that the package has some value or significance.
>>
>>316850783

merchants that sell and carry absolutely nothing of value walk around with armed guards, it makes it even more stupid that couriers walk around by themselves

>VATS doesn't make you invulnerable in New Vegas
I always fucking hated that. There's a reason in FO3 that you only take like 10% damage in VATS. Because it's glitchy as fuck and the devs didn't want you to experience cheap deaths.
Sure you can exploit it but it's better than the alternative of crippling something and then it resumes in full speed and rapes you for 5 seconds while you're still stuck in slo mo doing absolutely nothing(yes this has happened to me, it's fucking stupid)
