calling something "sexist" as a flaw is like calling action/fighting games "ableist"
a game can have theme of saving a captive girl and not be sexist. if the girl is in a situation where she can't fight against her captors because they are stronger than her or the place she's in has no way to escape, the game isn't showing her as a weakling, an inferior being.
peach, for example, is perfectly capable of jumping and beating koopas just like Mario does in the games where she is playable.
you don't need to make women literal OP goddesses who can bullshit their way out of any situation out of fear of misrepresenting this single character as a proxy for all women IRL.
in fact, the TR reboot (lauded as a more feminist-friendly icon due to a more "realistic" behavior and smaller tits) ends up being more sexist than most female characters out there because despite pulling all sorts of crazy shit like Nathan Drake does, she is moaning and whimpering all the way through the trip while having both Roth and Alex sacrificing themselves for her (then suddenly her character pulls a 180ยบ at the final stages, suddenly going IM KILLIN' ALL YOU BASTERDS).

point is, the character isn't in a fair-leveled situation. having a character being held captive isn't an inherently "wrong" plot device (you can argue it's overused) while having said character being able to free themselves and beat her captors is not a mandatory or "correct" plot device, it's just another possible outcome that any creator can write for the story.
whenever you character in the game has to fight a mandatory curbstomp battle (like balio and Sunder in BoF3), you don't start thinking you character is just a shitty weakling. he is just as strong as he's always been while you controlled him, you're still in a neutral position in the power scale. it's the opponent who's pulling some cheap shit.
