Is Disgaea 5 any good?
All the PCock shitposting for a 15 year old game made me feel like I'm missing out on something.
Is Disgaea 5 any good or is it just a generic turn based animu JRPG? The only turn based JRPG I've ever liked was Final Fantasy III

You can play any of the Disgaea games in any order. You play the games for the waifu characters you can recruit/play as. The first game has a different art style from the rest of the series because it was the first game. The second game onwards the series becomes more anime-fied.
If you played/liked Final Fantasy Tactics/War of the Lions. You may like Disgaea.

1. ridiculous stat/level caps and over-the-top everything
2. the grinding that guarantees hundreds of hours put into a just-under-retail-price game
Gameplay wise it's the best in the series. But even on its own it's a pretty solid SRPG.
If it actually gets ported to PC great, but that will probably be a long time off. If you happen to have a PS4 already you should go ahead and pick it up though.

For me the fun was in the absurdity of the Item World. I love how shit can get crazy inside there.
Its an SRPG with a shit ton of content and crazy ways to grind. Disgaea 4 is still the best in the series.

This game was ported to the NES, obviously with some concessions taken. Anything can run on anything within reason.
If D1 sells well enough chances are we are getting 5 within a year.
1 and 2 use the same engine so if 1 works fine it will be minimal effort to port 2.
3 and 4 and D2 are probably gonna be a bit of considering PS3 games may or may not be harder to port.

All they would have to do would reduce the number of units on screen. The biggest thing stopping it is that it can have up to 100 units on map at once, but that literally only happens in two instances. 1 is in a mystery room in the Item World with 100 Prinnies, and the other is Asagi's map.

Dude, this is THE grinding game.
Just to give you an idea:
Characters can reach up to level 9999.
Each item in the game(from weapons to ordinary healing items) can gain more levels if you travel through the item world, which is essentially maze after maze of floors full with enemies and neutral characters(specialists) you need to defeat in order to keep upgrading the item.
Geo Panels can bring different effects in squares of the field, from double attack, invicibility, less speed to even a game over effect. And guess what? The Item World is a Geo Panel Party Hard.
There is more: this game has monster classes and normal classes, full of mechanics like class rankings, weapon mastery levels, reincarnations, master & pupil system, all due to the Dark Assembly shit which you need to use sometimes to open certain stuff in the game, and the Dark Assembly requires money. Healing after each battle also requires money.
If there is anything in Disgaea, you can expect grinding levels to be involved in it somehow.

You only need to grind for post game. The whole storymode can be done without grinding.
If ever you reach a map where you're getting bodied, it's probably because your strategy is off. The story maps are more like puzzles than they are stat checks.

The Neptunia games on Steam get decent sales because they have the excuse of not being easily emulatable. They should have started with 3 or something honestly, especially since the stories aren't really connected. Then from there they could have gauged interest and maybe went back and released 1 as filler between the other games.

I went to gfaqs and they said things like statisticians will make you level like crazy. Eventually got bored. Then decide to spare inhabitants because they're "inside" my item right? So they already affect stats right?? If I kill them they disappear forever right?
