I just want the awful dual-screen shit to be optional. I don't want to be forced to look at my gamepad and play in first person when I'm in some all-range area. I've heard again and again that it is supposed to be optional, but they haven't been assed to show the game being played like that, so I have no idea if it works well with the gimmick stripped out. As long as the game functions without the double screen shit, I don't care how short it is as long as it's fun to replay.
But if, nearly 20 years after SF64, they can't make a game with at least as much in the way of branching paths as that game, or even the equivalent in content but in a linear game, then I'm still going to be disappointed. And it sounds like they can't.
