Don't worry about learning the new rotation until you reach 60 and get Fire IV. it can only be used in Enochian while Blizzard IV will be for refreshing it, though neither will refresh Astral Fire/Umbral Ice so you have to weave in lower tier spells.

MCH is just dumb because it has a combo rotation, but it's a proc'd based one.
Basically they have a simple 1-2-3 combo, but that combo requires ammo, and without ammo you have a 50% chance that the combo effect for the next skill will proc.
So without ammo you're spamming 1 hoping 2 procs and hope that 3 procs.
They're bursty to the extreme where they have real high DPS when they use Wildfire and use ammo but then it drops to embarrassing levels while wildfire is down.

Nigger, if you walked into Temple of Uggalepih or Ro'Maeve without knowing about magic aggro, or walked into Kuftal Tunnel without knowing about HP aggro, you'd be toast. If you walked into Crawler's Nest without knowing which crawlers aggroed and which ones didn't, you'd get kicked from your party pretty quickly.

Its not boring. Its an extension of the hunt system, made into an instance. I like beating the shit out of stuff, quite frankly. What I don't like is stars not dropping my shit, or my shit going to someone else. I mean in the grand scheme of things, running 3 90 min sessions a night for a chance to get 210 gear (assuming your party isn't fucking retarded or shits itself because teen drama) is actually a pretty good deal compared to the traditional raid loot weekly scheme.

Man I try arguing this whenever FFXI zealots show up, but it's like this game was the second coming of Christ to them. In all honesty I thought the game would have been fine if everything was sped up by about 3x. The utter snail's pace of the entire game, from the traveling, the combat, and especially the crafting, was utterly unbearable to me.

Weapons only contribute to accuracy, and they'll cap incredibly fast in between levels. Later on, when they skill up slower, they also become less important/relevant.
