I don't inherently hate EA or DICE, but this game felt so strange and archaic to me.
Like it had all the technological enhancements and scale that a modern Battlefield game would have, but the gunplay and vehicles were so...uncomfortable.
Old games that function like arcade shooters feel good and snappy, new games with realistic movement and Iron Sights feel weighty and take precision and effort, but Battlefront is some weird in-between that excels in no regard, gameplaywise.
The graphics and especially sound-design are 10/10.

Beta held my interest but the lack of weapons/squads/chat/server browser/space combat combined with lackluster vehicle controls made it clear that it'll be a shallow experience that most adults will lose interest after a good week. Too bad it isn't a reskinned bf game. It's understandable though as it needed to be watered down for the gigantic audience they're shooting for. BLOPS3 comes with 12 multiplayer maps (not including the bonus ones), 3 zombie mode maps, 4 free run maps, and a campaign mode with full 4 player co op
Halo 5 comes with over 20 multiplayer maps, a full campaign with co - op, and a free map editor later this year
Star Wars EA Battlefront only comes with 12 multiplayer maps and a few co-op challanges, no campaign mode, no custom games. It has less modes than both Halo and COD, there's only one mode per map in Battlefront

I played the beta. If anything it was a big disappointment and when I thought of my younger days playing Battlefront 1 and 2 with friends, and then seeing this modern product, I was not thrilled about it at all.
Sure more casual gamers or younger kids will like it, but as a more direhard fan of the Battlefront series, this game doesn't do it for me.
If it still has any players in say 3-6 months, maybe gets a discount, maybe just for when I'm bored. I doubt it though.

I don't think you understand how much games cost. You pay $120 for 28 maps, 10 heroes/villains, 9 game modes, all the customization/gear. The visuals are breathtaking, environments are detailed and it's completely optimized. It's online multiplayer only so they need tons of servers running for the worldwide load they're expecting for a Star Wars game. $120 is commonly spent on online games per player on added features, cosmetics, etc. and that's a good amount of content. The price is fine.

Actually I don't think you understand how much games cost. There are other shooters with almost as many maps (more at launch), more game modes, more customizations and weapons AND come with co-op/single player campaigns while cost half the price.
Saying "they need tons of servers running" doesn't mean shit when you're already paying an online fee on consoles, and you can't create custom games. Hell the game itself doesn't have a server browser and you can't even see your own ping.

People will get it just because it's Star Wars, hell when I played the beta most of the people in chat were saying how this is the first Battlefront they've played and how they can't wait to get it.
I'd say good for them, they enjoy it. I did too, it was a lot of fun. Not worth the price though.
However, I wish people would compare this with Evolve and be instantly disgusted with the idea of paying $50 for essentially what should be in the game by default.
