Would you get mad if Fallout 5 was set in a city outside the United States?
>>
>>316579818

I don't really care about Fallout anymore...
>>
Doesn't fit the theme, but I wouldn't be surprised.
>>
>>316579818
I'm not sure if I'd care, Bethesda already destroyed Fallout.

What does the lore actually say about other countries during the events? Were they nuked to shit as well or are people somewhere still living normal lives?
>>
>>316579818
It better set in Russia or China or any other nation that was nuke fucked.
>>
>>316579818
It would be more interesting.

Is the entire earth in fallout? What about china and japan? Did they have their own vaults? Much more interesting than MUH BAWSTON
>>
>implying there will be another fallout
>>
>>316579818
no
>>
>>316579818
I'd play the fuck out of post-nuclear Russia. Would really like some snow-cowered wasteland for a change.
>>
>>316579818
but anon, they wouldn't be able to reuse 90% of their assets.
>>
>>316579818
Maybe a DLC set in China would b cool. I really like the idea of a more urban setting in general, that's the bit I really like with FO4. The countryside ain't great

>>316580178
There's plenty of stuff that says the lead up to the war had global resource shortages, and if there was shit like NATO or Warsaw Pact then it'd be reasonable to expect most of the world to be nuked as well.
>>
>>316580302
How about post-nuclear Canada?
>>
>>316579818
It would pretty much be a new universe with new factions, mutants and lore if it was set outside of the US.
Would that be good? Maybe, but it shouldn't be called Fallout.
>>
>>316580178
Kinda rusty on my lore but IIRC all the major superpowers exchanged nukes.

That part of the lore is actually very cloudy and not explored that much. We don't even know which nation started launching nukes.
>>
>>316580408
Fuck yeah!

Alaska would also fit the lore.
>>
>>316580302
just play STALKER, better games overall anyways.
>>
>>316579818
it won't ever happen
fallout's atmosphere relies on 70's america
>>
>>316580408
Wouldn't work, it's supposed to be different after the war
>>
>>316579818
I'd be annoyed if Fallout 5. But since it's inevitable, I suppose I'll end up in indifference.
>>
>>316579818
There was supposed to be that one Fallout game set in China but got cancelled.
>>
>>316580420
The same could be said for the games taking place on the east coast, but that didn't stop Bethesda from reusing lore in a way that makes no sense.
>>
>>316579818
America is decent setting but it would be interesting to see how they handle a different country, I know nothing of fallout lore so I don't know what's "left" but I'd love to play in a small country like Japan main isle/ Britain just because they could prob map all of it in game as aposed to an area of country
>>
I'd be mad if Fallout 5 was made by Bethesda.
Someone needs to take it away from them before they completely destroy it.
>>
>>316579818
Fallout is all about the post-nuclear future American 50's aestethic, so I doubt it.

That being said, it is getting kind of stale, and for someone who isn't American, I could really not give less of a shit about the revolutionary war.

Some people are saying Russia, if they could actually pull it off it would be cool, but it would just be worn-out stereotypes and Russia internet memes.

I vote for post-nuclear rainforest. Doesn't matter where in the world. Mutated rainforest creatures would be radical.
>>
>>316579818
I'd love to see Australia just for mutated kangaroos
>>
>>316579818
Fallout has already been destroyed by Bethseda. Doesn't really matter what you do with any future titles.
>>
>>316579818
They've already copied stalker, they might as well just make Fo5 in Russia

What if they retconned Fallout and made it so the US was the only country where bombs dropped, which Vault-Tec was actually responsible for so they could carry out their social experiments while the rest of the world is just kind of sitting back laughing at the US.

It's better than fucking aliens.

There's an emotional impact to seeing an American city in ruins. It's sad for everyone. Seeing a foreign city in ruins is so normal. There's no emotion involved. European cities get demolished every 50-100 years or so. Russian cities were built as ruins.
>>
>>316580178
A whole lot of annexation. Canada is the only one I can think of that is confirmed but it would make sense.

As for other major players aside from the American and Chinese land blobs, I think I read somewhere that there was also an Arabian land blob.

For an American, yeah. As a yuropoor I don't really feel shit about Boston either way. Boston is not really iconic enough for me to even recognize landmarks and such.

Now this is not to say that it couldn't work better with a city that has better recognition, but I guess Fallout - NY might as well be Fallout - Crater.
>>
Yes, I would get mad if they spoke English in France.
>>316579890

I agree. Was too hyped about it and became so disappointed that I don't care about Bethesda anymore.
I guess this is the reason Valve is afraid to release Half Life 3.
>>
>>316582461
Isn't China canonically a glowing crater? iirc we see something to that effect during the retardation that was Mothership Zeta.
>>
>>316580178

The USSR collapsed and never recovered, China replaced them as the Communist Superpower. China was nuked into oblivion.

The European Commonwealth invaded the Middle-East for their oil, the war lasted 10 years and by the time it finished, the oil they were fighting over dried up. The EC then turned on each other in a huge civil war. This civil war was still going on when the Great War began, it's likely they were nuked and retaliated with their own nukes.

uranium is one of the key things in making nukes and the nuke war is not going to end after a couple of nukes so most likely other countries are going to be looking for more and Australia owns like 40% of worlds uranium
>>
>>316583642
> All of the settlements in the FO4 universe seem to do just fine in that department and it's not because of australian-imported uranium.

All of you subhuman turboniggers are the reason why the industry is fucking shitting the bed.

Half of you fucking faggots want to take Fallout, a game about American 50s-inspired retro scifi, and remove the themes which make Fallout what it is.

What you are all suggesting is make a new fucking game with new settings, and just slap the name Fallout on it and call it a day.

Go. Fucking. Lay. In. The. Street. Count. Mufflers.

Jesus fucking christ yes I'm mad fuck you all.

Yeah that whole 'nuclear holocaust' thing sure happened with just a couple of nukes
>>
>>316583702
>implying they wouldn't need new nukes
the nuke war wouldn't end after one or two nukes and Russia owns the most amount so the only way to combat that is to make more than that and Australia owns most of the worlds uranium

China is completely gone and if it weren't for the vaults, so would America.

there would need to be enough to cover all of the world in the fallout universe so who ever owns the uranium owns the ability to make more nukes making them the most powerful nation in a nuclear situation besides Russia

FO3 and FO:NV atleast kept the American 50's sci-fi aesthetic, they just gutted the RPG bits and made it first/third-person.

People are suggesting not only raping the RPG bits, but completely destroying the premise of the setting. They want vaults built by not!Vault-Tec in yuropoor countries who weren't on par with America and weren't involved in the Great War.

Look, it's not hard to mass-produce nukes. The materials are so readily available in mass quantities, hence there are a fuckton of nukes to go around and the world went to shit.
>>
>>316585268
So what you are saying is that uranium is valuable because you might have a half-working fusion reactor, ghouls with the knowhow to run it, and rad-immune muscleheads to get the fuel. Which all together yield a dozen of shacks worth of power, and sweet sweet radiation for the ghouls.

Well, I'm Russian, and I'm offended by spec-ops soldiers from Tom Clancy's Siege using weapons from the 40-ies than by stereotypes and such. I mean, I like Rambo and shit.

By all means, use bear cavalry, ushankas, and tons of AKs. Just make a good game.

The thing is, Bethesda can't even make a good game about US, and you want them to do something about other countries? That's a recipe for disaster.

The Middle East was nuked before anything else. Areas of central/western Africa, Scandinavia and possibly areas of Siberia are the only places I'd.expect to be relatively normal, but they'd still be heavily affected by fallout,

My bad.
>yes
You lost the thread. The discussion was about uranium being valuable in general.
>>316586547
And zero percent of the fucking world now is powered by nuclear fusion.
You'd have to have a plant survive in a working condition, have the knowledge to run it, have the fuel conveniently nearby, all to get a pittance of what still working fusion reactors produce.
>>
>>316579818
Only a few places outside of the US could work with Fallout, the UK is one of them. That being said without vaults I wouldn't call it Fallout.
>>
>>316583186
Fucking ayys
>>
>>316586921
>And zero percent of the fucking world now is powered by nuclear fusion.
But that's wrong you dumb fuck. MicroFUSION cells? They work for hundreds of years.

Besides what makes you think that fission plants survived intact but fusion plants all got blown up?

Stop clinging to the idea that uranium is somehow super valuable in the fallout universe.
>>
>>316586832
Eh, depends on the game. Mostly I just find it silly if it's unfounded in the story and is just there to give a protagonist more bad guys to shoot.

Call of Duty series in particular was pretty good in that respect. Ivan Zakhaev, the hero of Russia with a monument dedicated to him at the Red Square stole nuclear weapons from Chernobyl. That shit was fun to listen to.
>>
>>316586114
WW2 is a touchy subject, no one gives a shit about techno thrillers or sci-fi.
>>
>>316586889
That's bullshit.
Middle East and Europe were devasteted before by the Resource War, which was not a nuclear war.

There was absolutely no reason to nuke them because they were already pretty much dead.
>>
>>316580254
>f4 making probably billions in revenue
Of course there will be
But it will not be a real fallout
>>
>>316579963
At this point the only theme of the series is "franchise rape", so why bother?
>>
>>316587239
CoD MW saga did a good job of putting the US and Russia heads to heads without getting people buttflustered, it was, after all, just the ultranationalists tricking them into fighting
>>
>>316587281
oh okay
>>
>>316587295
I know at least a couple major cities in the ME were nuked at the end of the Resource War, it's what started the US' nuke scare.
>>
As long as it isn't in a boring as fuck snow area.

Snow is 100% lazy and boring. But I guess with how the niggers at Bethesda work, that would be the next step.

So they can put in the least amount of effort possible.

Just whiteness and gray/white mountain for the surroundings with dead lifeless shitty boring trees everywhere.

Seriously, fuck snow climates in video games. They are always so fucking lazy and boring.
>>
>>316587225
Please remain at least half-conscious, you've gathered the complete opposite of what I'm saying.
>Besides what makes you think that fission plants survived intact but fusion plants all got blown up?
That whole part is to show how unlikely it is for fission reactor to be of any use.
>But that's wrong you dumb fuck. MicroFUSION cells? They work for hundreds of years.
>world now
>fusion cells
>all to get a pittance of what *still working fusion reactors produce*

It wouldn't really be Fallout if it were set outside America. That said, they're running out of American cities that people give a shit about. Not that that'll stop them, but the only recognizable one left is NYC.

I wish DC were used for a better game, it's such a great setting.

You are mixing up separate branches, I haven't even read half of what you just mentioned.
>>

In case you haven't noticed, they don't need fully operational fusion reactors to power hundreds of thousands of houses. Because you know, nuclear holocaust and all.

It only talks about "limited nuclear exchange",
it wasn't nuked to oblivion like America in the Great War.
What really fucked them was the Plague.

Of course not, we would be crying for the greatest lost in human history, MUH 6 gorillions level. :^)

im ok with a dlc taking place outside the us but an entire game would suck. you'd end up with a bunch of shit accents and the whole world would be out of place of america

It's fiction for one thing, and secondly in universe that was literally the last accessible oil on earth other than the Alaskan reserve.

No. American history is so fucking lame, even when they jazz it up, it feels like being hit with a history book.
>>
>>316588168
He's got a point.

All the trees are dead and look samey. There's no grass, shrubs or other plants because everything is coated by snow.

It's pretty much ideal for Bethesda so they can put even less effort into the next game.

It's like a military reserve, in case the supply went to shit and they needed to deploy into battle. It caused the Chinese to invade Alaska, which led to the first deployments of power armor. It was devastatingly effective and made the Chinese very desperate. Nobody knows who launched first, but it was likely the Chinese.

When I'm talking uranium value in general, I mean outside of Gecko's specific situation, but in the same time frame, in case that clears something up.
>>
>>316588339
Yeah but they'd have a hard time coding foot tracks, a feature that was in a 2001 semi open world game

I was pretty fucking annoyed when I arrived in Concord and there's like 2 houses you can go into and all the others are boarded up.

Fucking lazy piece of shit.
>>
>>316588567
>in case that clears something up.
It does.

And you are more or less right. But at the same time the odds of you coming across a uranium deposit with tools and mutie-power to mine it is about the same as you finding a reactor with a demand for fissile material.
>>
Inb4 Tokyo

there was one F3 DLC that added out of the blue fucking samurai so why not go one step further

>But at the same time the odds of you coming across a uranium deposit with tools and mutie-power to mine it is about the same as you finding a reactor with a demand for fissile material.
Unlikely for both? That's how I view it. I don't see why the opposition.
>>
>>316589669
>Unlikely for both?
Exactly.
It doesn't matter if there are a million people buying it and a million people selling it or one person buying and one person selling it's still just as valuable.

This. I expected another Sanctuary where I could dig through the abandoned homes and try piecing together the lives of their residents, crawling through memories, reading shit on computers and finding stashes in cellars and safes. Instead I got two half ruined shops, the museum where I could sneak around a little and sewers. Feels like they ran out of creative juice right there, in the Sanctuary.

>>316588975
Lets see your game then faggot? Fallout 4 is the best Fallout so far and the amount of stuff to do is far beyond that of TW3.
