People think that if it has a DCS in the title, it's guaranteed quality. This is not the case. Just look how terrible the cockpit textures look. It's gonna be another hawk.

Yerah, i fucked up that one. Still the point stands, the TIE Fighter is more like an actual spaceship, at least in comparison to the fuckton of spaceplanes there are in SW. Also, if ships like the TIE/F can fly in an atmosphere why the fuck do so many of the designs have wings?! That always bothered me.

Overall I respect the TIE Fighter for being perhaps the most realistic space fighter around. The only thing it lacks is some form of RCS.

>>316572508
Jesus, that's so overdesigned. Also why do the missiles go all the way around and hit the plane point blank? Wouldn't exploding on the first, near-enough pass just do the trick?

>Also why do the missiles go all the way around and hit the plane point blank?

I don't know what kind of warhead those missiles are supposed to be carrying, but perhaps the plane's AI controlling them decided that it needed a direct hit to assure the kill.

Alternatively, overthinking anime usually causes it to break down pretty fast.

Ki-43 had the best low speed manoeuvrability ever thou. In first war years it was a beast killing machine Only big problem was the inability to keep up with the growing speedcap continuously set by allied fighters

Yep. That's exactly why it was too pure - The world would quickly learn that the WW1 and interwar thinking of ''maneuverability above all'' was retarded. It's all about speed.
>>
>>316574119
Ki-61 is the literal example of your words: only speed, no maneuverability at all. At least they tried to maintain both in later a6m models even thou it didn't really worked well

How many of you actually play real flight sims like dcs?

Yep, and Ki-61 performed pretty well throughout the war, even if it always had that Axis disadvantage of generally being behind the curve.
They eventually had to switch its engine to something different though, since the factory that produced the engines for the Ki-61 was bombed to shit and there were no spare parts anymore.

A7M, which was intended to replace the A6M, combined amazing maneuverability and impressive speed, but I'm willing to bet it would have either nasty stall characteristics (it only got one test flight and that was it iirc).

You can download all the models for fsx for free from rutracker. The flight models aren't nearly as good as other sims, but system modeling of some aircraft addons is actually pretty fucking amazing, for example, a2a addons.

Playing Il-2 1946 sorry. I'm considering BOS but no planes at all makes me kinda unsure
>>316575003
I wish team daidalos implemented the A7M in the spirit of the original 1946 concept. Their patches ATM are oriented to realistic features and existing warplanes, nothing from luft and ija46 and that's a shame

Was bf-109k4 really this hard to land and take off irl? I wonder how many nazi pilots crashed during landings and take offs in it...

I just can't believe it was this unforgiving. P-51 in comparison can be taken off and landed with eyes closed.

Bf 109s in general were pretty nightmarish to take off in, due to that landing gear. As the engines grew more and more powerful, the problems only became worse.
Those retarded landing gears killed a lot of pilots. And ''a lot'' is quite the understatement here.
>>
>>316576049
Ha. I've got a shitty BF 109 model that I've had for years, and the landing gear is constantly breaking.

>>
>>316576049
I bought the dcs bf 109 yesterday, and while I can reliably land and take off in it now it still requires so much concentration with a slightest error leading to a crash.

The take off basically this: full rudder deflection to counteract torque, no flaps. Increase power to 1.2-1.4 ata. Make a lot of fine stick and rudder adjustments to keep it from bouncing from wheel to wheel. After you lift off there's a big chance it will point to the left and stall if the speed isn't sufficient due to great toque.

Landing. Don't fucking forget to lock the tail wheel. Unlocked tailwheel - instant death. Gear down at 300km/h, flaps at 250. Approach the runway at high angle nose down at around 250km/h, flare at 200km/h with power off. Now this is important, you must perform 3 point touch down at around 170-180km/h or else you will crash. The moment your tailwheel touched the runway you need to pull stick back to ensure directional stability, or else you will flip over the wing, good luck not bouncing if you have excessive speed. And finally, you have to be perfectly aligned with the runway due to horrible directional controls and low speed.

It's a fucking nightmare.

Don't buy a Logitech 3D Pro, it's something the majority of budget sim players like to regurgitate. Bad spring, and it won't last long. Buy a Thrustmaster-16000m if you really only want a stick with built in throttle/rudder. If you want a separate throttle, I'd recommend you stay away from the Thrustmaster Hotas X - It's worse than the logitech.

I've been flying with mousejoy all this time and I want a decent stick.

But after watching some videos and reviews about stuff like x-52, I don't really know if I should upgrade. They look flimsy and inaccurate as fuck and I don't want to deal with deadzones.

Should I just get tm hog and not bother with cheaper sticks?

What are some good rudder pedals?
>>
>>316578484
Every bug they fix breaks some unrelated thing. The magic of vodka-fueled coding.

For example, the rendering engine changes that let you visually identify planes from a good 2km+ away somehow caused the Enduring Conflict mode hunter-killer bots to leak into RB and sim games, leading to very aggressive Me-262 bots hunting down players in biplane matches. Fixing that somehow gave RB bombers a massive xp bonus for crashing with bombs still on board. Fixing that broke collision physics on some bombers, making them ramming-proof. At this point I just want them to stop fixing shit so I won't have to wonder what mode is going to go tits up today.
