There is usually a way to fix it just google it I know that it happens dependent on how much shit you have got going on in your save files and mods just adds to that. New Vegas is pretty notorious for this kind of thing outside of crashing every 20 mins because of mod conflict.

Explosives is one of the best and most underrated skills if you want to be a sneaky character. Snipe enemies from long distance and then watch them trigger the mines that you set up in advance and take no damage. Cripple all of their body parts so they can't shoot or chase you. Take out way harder enemies than you're supposed to.
My explosive/sneak/guns courier snuck into Vault 34 at level 6 and got All-American by setting up ambushes for the ghouls. Shit was cash.

I got the ST Robot Race mod, really cool. You can't use any chems/food/alch/ whatever so all you get is what you find in toolboxes pretty much. There are some neat perks and the gameplay is pretty different. Throw a duster or Ranger gear on, and be a laser robot cowboy.

You don't but i'll be god damned if I'm not walking away with every last cap I can get a hold of. I had 700k in caps and a room full of gear worth several times that. I'd still rather spend an hour limping to the nearest settlement for a fast travel point than throw away one item. I did get to the point that I'd sell shit to the gunrunners or Contreras to keep my ammo addiction going. I'd buy and break down as many rounds as I could get afford to make handloads. I ended up having so many of those I couldn't carry all my ammo without getting over encumbered.

Good and Bad don't really mean much. A well meaning courier can still fuck over a faction if they choose the wrong side. That's really the best part of the game. Other games might suck up to your character and make you think that just because it was you that did something it would end happily ever after. Half the time with your companions you're choosing between bittersweet and fucked forever.

This ones the big one - in Vanilla, Melee/Unarmed is probably the strongest build you can make outside of Explosives. The moment you throw on J Sawyer's or Project Nevada, that all goes to hell. Feel free to mod run speed so you don't have to tank so goddamn much while rushing down snipers.

If you have to prioritize, Strength and Luck are the ones you eventually want to get to 10.
If you're not adverse to drugs and continually opening owned terminals to lower your karma, with Slayer, Rushing Water and Ain't Like That Now, you can go full ORA with even the Ballistic Fist.

Remember that you need 7 AGI for Slayer. Maybe take Small Frame as a trait then get the AGI implant. I always go Small Frame/Skilled.
Skills are basically the same as any other character, just remember to get both melee weapons and unarmed so you can have the perks of each.
>Equipment
Knock-Knock and Oh Baby are both great as melee weapon primaries, but if you get Pyromaniac then Gehenna is best. Chance's Knife is the best melee weapon sidearm, it has the best attack speed of any melee weapon in the game and you can sneak it through holdout areas.
For unarmed, you have a lot of good power fist-type weapons, go with Greased Lightning if you want to hundred-crack-fist a motherfucker. I've heard the industrial hand is also really broken, and if you have pyromaniac the superheated saturnite power fist is beefy as fuck.
Armor is an issue, because you need it more than any other build but you also lose desperately needed mobility by having heavy armor. I'd go with Joshua Graham's armor and get the toughness perk maybe a few times, as well as Travel Light so you can run people down more easily.
Deathclaws completely break melee builds, so stock up on that turbo and get Implant GRX otherwise later parts of the game are going to be very sad for you.
Searched the thread but couldn't see an answer, I'm gonna start NV for the first time as I can't be fucked with FO4. As a man who played FO3 on console and had fun with it, is there anything "essential" that you'd recommend to a first time player? I'm not looking to overhaul the game completely or anything for the first time, but just things that would smooth the game out a bit if it's rough around the edges like FO3 was.

Nah, senpai. I've played FNV for about 300 hours in total and have done everything that's possible to do in the game. Even finished all the quest mods that were available up until last month. Moved on to FO4, which is infinitely better gameplay wise.
