Watched my friends play fallout 4 yesterday/today a bit while I was playing other games.
Holy shit it looks awful, one friend had just started and I watched him do the minutemen deathclaw quest. That seemed okay, early power armour/deathclaw for no reason is stupid but whatever.
But then afterwards he was forced to look after these nobody fuckwits.
He tried to kill them and it did nothing, they didn't even get angry at him.
He blew up a fucking car as they walked past it, 4 of them fall over then stand back up as if it was nothing.

If your favorite part of 1 is the story, the atmosphere, and the pacing I'd maybe skip 2.
If you're interested in the actual gameplay there is so much more content, followers aren't dog shit, more quests/towns/exploration, the actual combat has been improved and you can get a bit more creative with your builds.

It was short, there was barely any content and your RP choices all boiled down to: Be a dick, don't be a dick and stat influenced response that is categorically better than all other choices in terms of results so why would you ever choose anything else. Not to mention that it functionally had zero replay-ability in addition to being an already short game (yeah, different builds are different but they don't make enough of an impact on how you play the game to classify as 'replay-ability')

Fallout 3 isn't really a bad game, just a bad Fallout. It's a pretty great Elder Scrolls style game in some ways.
4 isn't very good. I'm playing it and having fun, but I can tell it is inferior, especially compared to new vegas. I'm mostly having fun because it's all new and I haven't played a fallout scrolls in a while. Perhaps it will improve when I get further in.
