I don't know why people compare this to TF2.
TF2 is based on 9 classes that each perform a different role, whereas Overwatch is divided into 4 broad roles which contain heroes that are vaguely similar but have different niches. The flow of the game and combat seems to be mostly based around the abilities and their cooldowns, especially the ultimate abilities.
The only notable similarities are some ripoff characters and the Payload mode.

As a F2P game, there are TONS of problems with DotA2 that arise precisely because it's F2P.
That said, one of the big reasons why it's surviving so well is because Valve is pumping so much money into it. Like, a ludicrous amount of money goes into prizepools and cosmetics it's ridiculous.
Even then, I think it's still nowhere near League's popularity.

All those things you said on top of taking no skill. broodwar was a chaotic game, the complete opposite of SC2. The closest thing in broodwar to SC2 would have to be the ZvZ matchup, where if you ever had a critical mass of slightly more units you won nearly outright, or the ZvP matchup where build orders did not typically deviate from the norm until both players had 2-3 bases. What SC had that SC2 didnt is that it was peppered with timings that had significance. Great advantages could be gained and great disadvantages could be overcome. It's a hard thing to describe but just watch some starcraft games and youll see what I mean.

Titanfall had no variety. It was fun to be in the robots but it was so limited that it just sucked to be on foot half of the time. It's like Evolve, it was more fun to play as the monster than it was to play the hunter but only one person could be the monster.
Overwatch doesn't have those restrictions.

Honestly, I've seen a lot of interest in Hanzo/Genji/Reindhart in these threads. Overwatch has a good balance of waifus and interesting males.

No thanks. I've never really played either game, but I've always been under the impression that they revolved heavily around base building, timings, and having specific counters/build paths to counter whatever you think your enemy would be doing.
In that sense, I don't really understand why SC2 is hated more than SC.
The only RTS I've ever played was CoH, which I particularly enjoyed because there wasn't an emphasis on base building and build orders/counters, since soft-heavy-hard counters exist and fights can be completely turned around with proper positioning and micro.
