My point is that you'll be able to consistently make it to the Chest / Dark Room and win anyway, secret end bosses aside.

This game's positive critic and reviews is one of the causes why the ART of making videogames is now disappearing. If dumb people keep playing games like this, they will keep making videogames like this, and we will be able to count with hour hand really good videogames in the future. (Elder Scroll, Fallout, Zelda, Mario, Sonic etc..)
One time they used to make good videogames, thinking about them for days, months... years... to complete them and make them perfectly playable and enjoyable.
First of all....this " procedural map" which in 80% of the cases means that developers are too lazy and do not want to put too much time into their work. You might say "in this way, you idiot, there's no game similiar to another. Every game is completely different".
I can agree with that, but there should be some general rules.
When the procedural map just gives you random things, and punishes you randomly (or greatly makes you stronger from a second to another)) ... then it becomes a game about luck, and off developers, because if I want to play a game about luck I dont come to Steam, but I go to some roulette, poker and casino site. you will get to the breakfast stage for sure because having infinite consumables means you will find pethro and jera in a very short period of time. It's a very safe strategy, there's no way you don't break the game if you have the d20 and you can buy batteries in the shop.

the fat guy thought that they made greed too crazy so they toned him down a lot.
I was looking at the files earlier and apparently base greed is the same as how he was before the first buff. Terrible greed can have up to 200%hp his base hp (down from 400%). the coins got nerfed too, they all have like 20-30hp each in their base form and 50-60hp in everything is terrible. They had 100 hp before and they were pretty much unkillable.

This. In Greed Mode, the chance of an item pedestal actually spawning is something like 1 in 50.
In normal/hard, you gotta clear at least Caves/Cavern/Flooded 1 just to get the first Angel room. And you have to have gotten Devil Room Basement/Cellar/Burning 2 from boss kill.
And even then, it's not a guarantee.
Everything is RNG stacked against Angel spawns, Donation box jamming after 4 pennies, etc.
And what do you get after 3 floors? A few pennies and half a key, unless you ran out of bombs.

Greed is a little lackluster in his current state, both pre and post Terrible.
Post-buff, he was an utter pain in the ass, because his coins were unkillable and then they buffed him up because it was almost always hearts and then he just keeps shitting out coins faster and faster, becoming nigh unstoppable because of stupid ramp.

They display what bosses you've killed in what modes with a certain character. Barring Greed Mode, red ones represent beating a boss on Hard. With Afterbirth you may view them while paused during a run.
If you're relatively new to the game, I suggest completing some challenges eventually, the runes you can unlock from them can be very handy.

yea I actually have most of the challenges unlocked but I haven't finished any. I was focusing on trying to unlock lilith but with AZ nerf I kind lost all motivation to that and ive just been trying to unlock blue baby. Ill have to do some of the challenges this weekend.

Protip: Play Hard Mode every time since you'll need to do it to unlock everything eventually, sucks having a fun OP run then realizing you did it on Normal and could've had that sort of luck on Hard.
So did he fully rever the Azazel nerf or did he just pull the ol' "nerf something into the ground so that when we roll out the much less severe nerf nobody complains since it's not NEARLY as bad as the one before" trick?
