I'm trying with no success to track down a game that I have only vague memories of and was hoping /v/ could help. It was an 8-bit era 2D platformer with a prehistoric setting. An intro "cutscene" established a vague premise of a meteor imbuing two monkeys (the player characters) with the ability to evolve. This was the only really defining feature that comes to mind; a power-up item (an egg, I think) akin to Mario mushrooms which "evolve" the character from a monkey to a cave-boy or cave-girl, to be devolved upon a hit. Adventures of pip reminded me of it in the first place. I also want to say 'dino' was in the name, but no variations I've tried yield anything.

I remember the sprites being very charming and the gameplay being fun and memorable. I'm a little surprised I've had such a hard time tracking it down. If it sounds familiar, I'd appreciate suggestions.

Jontron actually did an entire show on this game and it's series.

This seems really close while also being super off the mental image I had. The sprites I remember were a bit more chibi, or at least more squat, and I'm almost certain you could play as a boy or a girl.

That, and I didn't see a devolved character state in the gameplay I checked.

Also close, but decidedly not what I'm thinking about. I do remember playing this, and specifically that stone wheel attack, now that I've got the video right here. Good shit.

Ok, yeah, that it.

VERY different from what I remember. Thanks.
