Path of Exile is incredibly deep. The animation quality is kinda poor and the graphic fidelity isn't quite up there either, because the dev running it is pretty small, but it's by far the best Diablo clone gameplay-wise. I think I might even prefer it over Diablo 2.

There's massive amounts of empty space between locations, but there's no reason to actually travel through it because you can instantly fast travel anywhere as long as you're outside. Cities themselves can be huge and you have to navigate them manually, but characters can run pretty fast with high Speed and you buy a cart or horse to ride.
