Not really. I wish it was $20. Right now it's just kind of a rip off with terrible samey maps, and it's dull arena shooting.
I love it and play it like once a week with my friend. New maps look like fun. Museum is gonna be a great place for sprinklers.

Squads saved the game for me. Playing with even one other teammate and coordinating silly shit/not getting nearly as frustrated at teammates has me playing this more than any other multiplayer shooter I've gotten in the past long while.
Seriously my GOTY (though admittedly, the only other game I'd even consider is Rocket League and I just bought that a few days ago so I need more time with it)

Splat Zones on Towers is one of the most fun ranked modes in the game. And I had a lot of fun playing Splat Zones on Camp and Rig.
A lot of other maps, though, it's trash.

Every clothing item comes with a series of small perks. One is the main ability an item is guaranteed to have and the star represents how many sub abilities that item starts with (you can pay to increase anything to be 3 stars). The amount of Special Duration Up you need for Bubbler or Kraken is too high. You are better off making good use of those specials and keeping whatever charge you gain upon dying than wasting that many slots on Duration Up.
In fact for Kraken Swim Speed Up is pretty much Duration Up unless you are camping the tower on Tower Control.
The point is not to die but sometimes you do die. When I die with my gear I get my special back almost instantly. This isn't my main set because this much Special Saver is overkill but you get the idea. I run a mix of charge up and saver. I am probably going to cut a little bit more saver for quick respawn or ink recovery up. There are matches I don't die but having it is insurance. You already don't need abilities to do well in the game. Might as well put on ability that does help when you get splatted.

False. One main with 0 subs saves you 15.3% more of your gauge. One main of saver does a lot more than one main of most abilities in the game even if it comes at the cost of getting splatted. But even the "top" players get splatted at times. Saying don't die is silly.

I think swim speed up is a staple no matter what and it does change how well you can play. I'd rather have quick respawn than special saver to get back in and help my teammates faster. My third ability slot would be one of the stealth ones or ink resistance.

I agree with using Quick Respawn. The only thing I have to say in regards to that is I have multiple sets. Saver and QR synergize well. But my thing with QR is how often do I plan on dying. As far as Recovery goes, just run 2 subs. It is approximately the same as a main, but has the benefit of freeing up both a sub and main slot. There's enough Tentatek gear out there, too.

They should really have separate ranked and turf wars splatfests, with ranked rotating between modes. Then combine the results. I prefer turf wars because it's no stress doesn't matter if I lose but in Splatfest I have to rely on everyone to not be shit and it stresses me out. And of course I perceive it to be that the enemy team has all the max rank guys who mastered everything while I've got literaly 6yos on my side and people D/Cing on my team left and right.

Cold Blooded is one of the best abilities in the game. The problem is that a lot of people are not using weapons that have Echolocator or Point Sensors on them anymore. Squads that know what they are doing will most likely have an Echolocator.
I don't really run it anymore since if I'm echo'd unless they are an eliter they are making it known that they know where I am if that makes any sense. Echo can be a two edge sword. I've used myself getting echolocated to my advantage many times. Only Eliters are the real threat when it is popped.

Granted, that's mostly because I play the game pretty casually and I just have the bad luck to only ever seem to get to play it or Bluefin Depot anymore. I miss the other maps.

I tried out an e-liter on Moray Towers (in Turf Wars) and it is laughably over-powered on that stage. I had always known this, but I did not realize to what extent it was until I tried it out for my self. It's like shooting fish in a goddamn barrel. Fucking hilarious! I really hope the devs eventually redesign the Turf Wars version of the stage because damn.

I never ever played a shooter game before, and yet I had so much fun playing the testfire, which is why I bought Splatoon, so yes.
Even so, I would recommend to watch gameplay videos before buying the game, so to just make you sure.
