Lack of legitimate fast travel just fucking kills this game.

What the fuck was Capcom thinking?
>>
>>316492438

The constant framerate drop is what turned most people off, lack of fast travel was annoying but nothing compared to playing a slideshow sometimes.
>>
>>316492961
I assure you only a handful of people on /v/ cared about "framerate drops". The only time that was relevant for most people was with Mystic Knight.
>>
>>316492438
I actually liked that there was no fast travel. It gave the game a LOTR kind of vibe in that I was always traveling long distances to get to places. Can't wait for PC though. HOPE THE GAME IS MODDABLE
>>
>>316492438
not having fast travel for your first time was great. and the random encounters and secrets that you will bump into made traveling / exploring interesting. after getting through most of the game you then get a crystal or 2 that can be made into a warp point which is another great feature cause then you can choose where you want it to be for whatever reason you think of. it made the game feel more adventurous and since the world is a bit small and the combat is fun it never bothered me much to run all over the place.
>>
>>316492438
Wow OP, it must suck that you have to explore in an adventure game huh? You dumb piece of shit.
>>
Invest in some ferrystones. The world's not even that big, and exploring is fun.
>>
>>316492438
I only fast traveled to 5 locations.
The main town.
The field between the griffin tower and the path to the swamp.
The first town.
The middle of the forest where the drake always respawns.
And the bitterblack isle.
Two of those warps are free.
The other 3 are easy to manage because you get at least that many stones to plant.
>>
>>316493162
Any spellcasting on ps3 or more than 10 guys/monsters moving would cause the ps3 to go on 20 fps.
It's a problem all around
>>
FUUUUCK YOOOUUUU CASUAL

There is fast travel and I love the way it's handled. Makes more sense than "I just ran really fast there lol"

Adventuring is one of the best parts of DD. Not a single other open world game in recent years has that sense of dread like DD does when you realize you aren't prepared and miles away from civilisation.
>>
>>316493635

Nigga. I enjoy exploring, I don't enjoy trekking back 30 minutes through mobs I've killed 10 times already. Warp Points in towns would have made this game 10x less tedious. Morrowind was doing this in 2002.
>>
Holy fuck /v/ you cant believe me how fucking hard I hate this OP right fucking now
>>
>>316492438
You will probably be able to mod in limitless way stones.
>>
>make big, detailed world
>just skip over it

Fast travel ruins games. I like that it's there but takes effort to use.
>>
>>316492438
Fast travel in any game is cancer.
That being said, Dragons Dogma having the same fights in each area made travelling back and fourth irritating as fuck
>>
>>316494128
You can run past mobs fool. Also Gran Soren is small and fun to run through. You don't need warp points.
>>
>>316492438
Nigga you dumb.
>>
>>316494151

Because he has a legitimate complaint?

Having fast travel between towns would have made the game flow a lot better.

Walking paths and killing enemies you've walked like 15 times because lack of options gets annoying.
>>
>>316494308

They could'v3 remedied the problem by putting goblins on wolves with spears.
>>
>>316494308
I hope there's a random encounter mode in the pc version. I kind of like knowing where every enemy is in the game but I want that "surprise bitch" feeling again when a Chimera comes out of nowhere.

IS IT JANUARY YET?
>>

>Fast travel in any game is cancer.

Sorry, this is just wrong. I have better shit to do than travel the same paths over and over again. Having waypoints between towns is a nice compromise in large games and it should have been added.
>>
The fast travel system was completel fixed in Dark Arisen.
It was however, indeed fucked in the original.
>>
>>316492438
>Lack of legitimate fast travel
But there is fast travel? You can set up Portcrystals wherever you want in the overworld and use Ferrystones to teleport back to them. Gran Soren, Cassardis and Bitterblack Isle all have Portcrystals by default.
>>
>>316494942
I'm sorry some games require you to pay attention instead of give your ADD riddled mind instant satisfaction.
>>
I guess I never had this problem because I played Dark Arisen? I always have plenty of ferry stones.
>>
>>316494942
Then why have a world at all? Why not just teleport you from one quest to the next? If you don't want to traverse a large world then you should be playing a different kind of game.
>>
>>316492438
Fast Travel is the cancer that kills these games. I was glad to find out RDR had fast travel till the near end of the game.

>these are the people that attempt to call other games shit
>>
>>316494942
>I have better shit to do
You are playing a video game? If you have "better shit" to be doing why don't you do it instead of even playing in the first place?
Fucking casuals I swear!
>>
>>316494392
>Having fast travel between towns would have made the game flow a lot better.
It already has that.
>>
There is fast travel, you just have to earn it. Making the player actually learn to navigate the world and deal with passing threats was probably one of the best things about DD, having fast travel from the start would have ruined the experience.
>>
>>316494942

Some people do find fighting their way through a world fun. If I trespass through a goblin forest I expect to get attack by goblins. If you don't enjoy this kind of thing you aren't playing the right kind of game. An RPG means you ROLEPLAY the character. If you are instantly catapulted to where you need to be all the time it ruins the immersion. This isn't fucking WoW where you que for dungeons over and over again that you don't even know the world location of. THAT shit is autistic.
>>
I liked limited fast travel. It made everything you did feel like you're setting of on an adventure. When you're low level you have to make a point of setting of at dawn to lower the risk of being out in the wild at night.
>>
>>316495856
>exaggerating numbers
Many people didn't even see the entire map on their first play through. It's entirely your fault for talking the same paths.
>>
>defending Dogma's overworld travel

Yes, port crystals exist, etc etc. But you guys can't be this blind. The map in DD NEVER changes. The first time you make that trek to Gran Soren, and the thousandth time- the exact same enemies will spawn in the exact same places.
DD is my favorite game and there's no defending that, guys.
>>
>>316496995
Really gran soren and cassardis are the most important so its fine. Throw one or 2 portcrystals and you can get around pretty easy. The world is actually pretty small.

>>
>>316496995
it's true DD does suffer from this. I would like to see an RPG where your random killing and destruction actually effects the areas and consequently the enemies you meet and fight That shit would be rad.
>>
>>316492961
>The constant framerate drop is what turned most people off,

PC will fix it.
>>
>>316497302
That would be great, but even in Dogma's case, a little randomization would have been nice. Make tougher enemies spawn after you reach a certain level, or something. I don't need my full hellfire warrior pawn pissing his pants over the same wolves he fought at level 8.

>>
What's your favorite type of pawn to hire?
>>
>>316492961

>The constant framerate drop

Nobody but autists care about the framerate.
>>
>>316497683
I'll hire damn near anything, provided that it has decent skills and such. I've seen pawns with amazing gear and decent inclinations that I had to pass up because, for one reason or another, they had no skills assigned. That, or they had just the basic skills, despite having mastered the vocation.
>>
>>316496995
I think the worst thing about Dragon's Dogma's overworld is that apart from enemies there's really nothing to do. There's plenty of areas in the game which you can reach from the get-go, but can't actually enter if you don't have the proper quest first. F.ex. you can reach Gran Soren before the main hydra head escort quest, the castle where the princess bitch is being held for that one side quest, that one dungeon where you must lower the water level etc. but you can't actually enter those places or complete them properly. If you go exploring on your own you're going to run into plenty of dead ends and it's easy to accidentally overlevel your character and make the rest of the game a cakewalk.

Good looking pawns that fit their voice. Cutesy voice with a rugged ass look is straight retarded (and vice versa), please don't do this anons.
Skills equipped and good gear is also a must. Some mastered skills are a plus.
>>
I'll agree it was a little fucked in vanilla.
>Ferrystones are ridiculously expensive and only have limited stock
>Only like 2 crystals in the entire game
Good thing Dark Arisen fixed the issues so well that you'd have to be a retard to have issues with travel in the game.
>>
>>316494049
>playing games on the PS3 when they had 360 ports

Its like you were asking to get framedrops
>>
Chinks are always padding their empty games with repetitive mundane stuff like excessive grind, copypasted locations, pointelss random encounters and unskippable long backtraking.

>wow 100hrs long game!
>>
>>316493162
Oh heloe mister "only reads /v/ and watches youtube vidoes" how are you today?

No, you are full of shit.

The game had terrible framedrops everywhere, and magic knight made the game practically unplayable. But you'd know that if you owned the game or saw it somewhere aside from youtube.
>>
>>316498630
Big buff brown Amazon warrior.
Big buff voice.

Noodle armed Warrior lolis a shit.
>>
>>316494392
It's not a legit complaint though especially in Dark Arisen since you get way port crystals early as fuck into the game and Ferrystones are unlimited at the black cat.

You niggers have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>316492961
>The constant framerate drop is what turned most people off,

No it didn't you fucking PKek faggot. At this point 60FPS is just an internet meme. Most people simply don't give a shit.

>HURR CHINKS GOOKS JEWS
>clearly haven't played the game but feel the need to insert his worthless opinion

It is amazing how some people don't even realize they have become a self-parody of Cartman. Go ahead, try to justify why you are not lame without saying "at least i am not <insert bullshit>."
>>
>>316492438

walking around in to suddenly find yourself fighting a huge ass dragon was one of the best parts of the game imo. they should've shrunk down the world a bit tho

>>
I agree with you op, even if most people won't. I hated doing the same exact fights like 15 times each. So boring. I actually enjoyed the game but I gave up after like 15 hours because I was tired of running from the first town to the main city, and fighting the same exact things each time. So dull.
>>
>>316492438
No, I think it did a good job balancing the fast travel with the Ferrystones (and as other posters have mentioned Dark Arisen gave you Portcrystals and locations out the ass). The framerate did blow, I never got around to a playthrough as a Mystic Knight becaue of that.

If it had fast travel, especially at the start, it would have ruined the fun and mild challenge of traveling between areas a night before your character becomes fucking invincible.

I do wish that it was easier to get more Discipline Points vs Experience Points gained, as it seems like you get kinda overleveled pretty early on if you decide to grind for a cool ability. It isn't really a problem if you know the game and grab the DP-increasing rings/armor, but it doesn't really flow that well if you're introducing a friend to it.

OP is a fag/dyke/whitecisshitlord/tranny/casual/virgin/whore, etc.
>>
>>316500608
360 was virtually the same though.

>le 60fps meme
Will you pkeks shut up? If anything, framerate drops add to the game as additional challenge and feedback of how powerful I am.
>>
>>316494308

depends on the game.

skyrim fast traveling was pretty shitty but at least it was better than nothing since the world itself was boring and ridiculously huge

DD's fast traveling was good since it wasn't just "press a button on the map to travel" it was actually fun to find and buy those expensive ass rocks, and until the end of the game you'd use them sparingly because of them being rare
>>
How do I go about getting the quality items from Bitterbutt's depths? I wanna clear the isle for the first time but I get btfo by damn near everything lurking around down there. I feel as though wraiths and the other fuckers shouldn't be causing me so much trouble.
>>
GUYS DID YOU KNOW THAT WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS?
>>
>>316503464
Run around opening chests and don't fight anyone if you're having trouble. You can skip 80% of the fights in BBI.
>>
>>316503638
Nah but that would've been good to know on my first play through. Fucking pawns and their silent treatment.
>>
>>316503464
Run around and open chests. Since you're at wraiths I can assume you beat Gazer at least. If you need RC and are on PS3. I have some time tonight to do a few runs for you.
>>
>>316503327
At this point I can't tell if this is bait or not
>>
>>316492961
The only time my fps ever dropped was when I went overboard with the highest-tier sorcerer spells. Even then, it only lasted a few seconds. I played a warrior and assassin through most of the game, and not a single time did my framerate ever sink then.

Claiming the game had a "constant" framerate issue is just exaggeration and stupidity.
