NIN compete with DRG for effective raid dps. DRG may edge them out, but just barely. You also gain a melee class whose rotation is affected the least by an LB3 cast, and aggro tools to help your tanks pull higher numbers themselves. Good ninjas are very much in demand.

If you're implying that PLD and AST are unique then you got it all wrong.
DRK is literally PLD with a couple of magic defense cooldowns and MP usage with a dps stance that stacks with their tanking one.
AST is literally, LITERALLY level 50 WHM with card buffs and like 1 ability that is different: Synastry. Their stance mechanic just makes them into a castrated Scholar that has to spend even triple the mp to achieve the same result as SCH, and they have super low cost spells across the board too.

I'm saying that they and every other class could be more unique if they weren't so set on homogenization. They're too worried about balance and making every class equally viable in every situation. If they had a proper support role, AST could be much, much more interesting and have a lot more potential. But because it's being forced into the healer role, WHM, SCH, and AST all have to be homogenized so they don't outdo each other too much.

Every static and their mother will still go for at least the best classes in each role.
I've yet to see a static that doesn't run a WAR and a SCH because the difference it makes to having at least one of those is insurmountable, its basically a large raid DPS increase while STILL having a proper tank and healer. So long as the other healer can handle topping people off, the SCH only has to worry about damage mitigation and the rest of the time its full salvo dps until you have both tanks tanking something, on top of all this if they need to step up because WHM died or something THEY CAN by just summoning the damn healing fairy.
Then theres WAR, who can achieve the same result as PLD and DRK with a lot more effort while essentially being a dps role whenever they are not MT.

Get a parser and prioritize damage cards on whomever is doing the most dps.
Aim for expanded damage cards in raids and enchanced/extended damage cards in dungeons.
blm takes priority over arrow, then monk, then drg, then smn.
smn takes priority over balance if theres lots of mobs, otherwise DRG = MNK > BLM > SMN
Ewer should be used on you first and foremost because AST is such a shit class that it needs all the mp it can get, otherwise other healer > SMN.
spear is burn fodder, but it can be useful to use this on yoursef if you know you will need to use lumineferous aether or lightspeed soon.
Bole is mostly burn fodder for enhance, but if you're ever in a situation where you got nothing else, slap it on the tank and time dilation it since it'll most likely be up for the next boosted card. Aternatively, if you're feeling handy, you can store boles for use on tank cleaves, never expand this card 5% mitigation on party is worthless.
Spire is a useless card and burn fodder for expand. I advise you never use this card unless you have the blessing if drawing it three times in a row, if thats the case then just slap it on the meele with the least tp.

High end healing is the hardest because you have to break established roles to push DPS.
Tanks doing long periods of fights in DPS stance doesn't burden them any harder, but the healers.
Black Mages standing in red to finish that cast doesn't make their jobs harder, but the healers.
All the while the Scholar is switching in and out of DPS stance every mechanic change, literally doing two roles simultaneously, while the White Mage solo heals for unreasonable lengths of time and occasionally throws a dot when they have MP to spare. The game wasn't meant to be played like that, but its forced on healers in order to meet unreasonable DPS checks. Everyone else just do the same thing they always do. The healers are the ones who have to actually compromise, react, and carry the rest of the team.

WoD has had 1.3 million players at the level cap so far so that's by no means an indicator of how many active players there are, in fact the only real data you can pull from this information is that Heavensward has an absolutely insane completion rate compared to WoD, especially when you take into account how much more difficult it is to reach max level in Heavensward.
