>TFW you realized you have to manually break down shit if you want to get all the components.
>>
>find shitty gun with a mod
>scrap gun
>get 3 steel and no mod

ok...

>reload
>assemble the gun to get the mod off
>try to put the mod on a different gun
>end up burning scrap to rebuild the mod even though i have one in my inventory

ok...

So what is the purpose of these mods
>>
no you don't u raging moron. You can transfer junk into a workbench and it will automatically break it down for components. Armor and weapons on the other hand need to be manually broken down.
>>
>>316488009
aren't mods tied to the weapon type? Like, you can't put 10mm extended mags on a pipe gun
>>
>>316488148
This
And always do it at the same place
>>
>>316488148
>>316488361
Sept if it offers multiple components, you don't get those. You only get the component it needed.
>>
You literally can put them in the workshop storage to break them down. Also something that requires one component of a three component item will not delete the other components. There's a small delay but they reappear in your workshop storage.
>>
>>316488484
It keeps the other components, they're a time delay on them reappearing. It's been confirmed.
>>
>>316488148
>load workbench with bunch of junk
>want to build in different place
>have to manually transfer items to the other place instead of just the basic components
There needs to be a "blent" button which dissolves everything into raw material at the workbench.
>>
>>316488484
Also wrong. the spare components are sent to storage as the raw material.
>>
OP got btfo'd
>>
>>316488635
just build a supply route between them and the components will be shared between settlements.
it just works
>>
>>316488635
supply lines faggot.
It allows all raw material from connected settlements through supply lines to be used by the connected towns.
It does however allow you to pull say a rifle from sanctuary's inventory from the gas station. Weapons, armor, meds, and misc items are not transferred. Keep those in one place.

It dramatically increases the ease of fixing up settlements

Just link everything by supply lines.
>>
>>316489085
>try to build supply route
>Set two of them up with my main base
>try to do a third
>It's greyed out for some reason

Welp.
>>

>>
>>316489107

>>
>>316489183
You need no more than one supply line leading from one settlement to another.
Making it a web is pointless,
>>
>>316489107

>>
>>316489201

just transfer the items to a bench. Be it the workbench or crafting stations. they all go to the same place in the settlement.
Mind you once you do they can not be accessed from any other settlement.
Only the Junk can. and only through connected supply lines.
>>
>>316490938
You scrapped it bro. R is scrap and you get half mats back. TAB stores it for later use in the workshop and you can use supply lines to easily re-place shit you built in other settlements. Never scrap what you build.

Did you press space to connect a wire from the generator to the radio tower? That's how you get shit to work. You look at how much power the generator supplies and how much the construct you're connecting it to uses and build accordingly.

What? The Local Leader perk tells you that you can create supply lines. Simple thinking would lead you to believe that you need someone (a settler) do work that trade-route. And even if you are retarded and didn't think that a new option (Q) shows up when you select a settler in the workshop menu, which if you had any interest in doing the base-building there's a tutorial quest that teaches you how to assign people to do shit.

Are you working on that scope in a weapons bench in a settlement you didn't link to your other settlements?
also you need adhesive and Fiber optics for most weapons.
Adhesive is easy to get. Just grow tatos, Mutfruit, and corn. Mix that shit with pure water in the cooking station and you got starch. naturally made 5 adhesive per starch.
>>
>>316493723
go to a settlement and store all your juk and components there at the workbench.

>>
>>316493723
You can "tag" a part you want to make when crafting and when you go out looking for shit junk you picked up with have a little magnifying glass next to signify that it has the components you need.

Like, say you needed rubber to build a laser sight. Tag that shit and now all radios you look at with have a magnifying glass.

Eventually you just learn to pick up fucking everything. If you can't break it down then ittle show up in the MISC category and you can just dump it or sell it for caps.

I'm aware that food/water/caps from stores get slowly auto-transferred to your workshop over time, but I recently made a new character so I'm still small-time. I have like, two corn, two mutfruits, and two tatoes in sanctuary.

It helps that I don't really plan on modding until I get at least rank-2 in the modding perks.

>>316494523
Yep. Everything in the game is either a weapon, armor, junk, misc., ammo, or aid.

Pick up literally everything if you can. Fucking strong back is basically a must-have if you plan on hoarding junk to craft. Although some shit like folders, burnt paper, and overdue books aren't junk and should be ignored or sold for 0-1 caps.

>>316494940
Pre-war money gives cloth, which you need for beds and I think some armor mods.

In your pip-boy at the junk tab you can press C to check what shit breaks down into.

>>316495086
Is red rocket connected to your other settlements? If it is you might be breaking it down without noticing.
>>
>>316493723

Every piece if junk laying around is composed of diffrent mateials. Usually plastic or wood or some such shit. But sometimes useful stuff like screws and nuclear materials and adhesives.

Pick up everything you see, and store it in your workbench. You don't have to scrap it, the worksbench does this for you. If the work bench scraps, say, a toy car for plasticcs, the additional screw will be stored in the work bench but there is a slight delay.

The weapon - and armor mod benches tells you what materials you need to build certain mods. usually screws and adhesives. Now it's just a mstter of figuring out what pieces of junk have highest priority while you run arund and get beaten tk shit by ghouls.

If you enter workbench mode (the mode that lets you build walls and turrets and stuff) you can scrap most things lying around. Trees, streetlights, ocasionally an entire ruined house. A good source for wood and steel if you want to wall in your setttlement or somthing.

>>
>>316495725
You see a unique in the very beginning of the game. According to http://fallout4map.com/ there are around 50 unique weapons in the game.

Yes, I am aware that map also gives locations to things like fat men. It's why I said "around".
>>
>>316493559
What mods are going to be game changing/best improvements.
>>
>>316495915
Finding unique stuff in FO3 and NV was so much fun. Those games were so good at satisfying my looting desires. In 4 I'm basically just running around picking up trash so I can upgrade my weapons I've had since the beginning, or settlement.

I hope someone makes a great weapon mod.
>>
>>316488635
Yeah this is really necessray, just make a scrap all command and it's vastly better
Also have a menu that shows you all the resources in your bases, you have component view for your current inventory already so it's really not that difficult. You could also make that shit a special workbench, something like the stock keeper in Dwarf Fortress

>>
>>316496151
The mods you're allowed to make get better the farther down the list you go, and the best mods usually require the max rank in gun nut or science.

Like, for the chasis rank 1 heavy will increase its damage by like, 3 points for example, but if you have gun nut rank 3 and are able to unlock the one farther down the list it will increase the damage by like, 20.

Generally you want the more expansive shit at the bottom of the mod list.

>>316496448
Supply lines man. Set up supply lines and all your junk becomes universal and you never have to lug anything around.

>But what about my guns and armor?

Not going to happen. It ruins the game for most of us who want to feel like they have a home base. I'm sure a mod will cater to your casualness.
>>
>>316496823
>Supply lines man. Set up supply lines and all your junk becomes universal and you never have to lug anything around.
This forces you to put points in charisma doesn't it?

The perk system is so stupid. 1 in charisma lets you get all ranks of the bartering perks, but you need 3 to get the lonewolf aka "fuck charisma altogether" perk. Can't wait for mods to overhaul the entire crap
>>
>Supply lines

You know there's no level cap and you can level up your special stats right? If you really, really don't want to invest points into charisma right away that's only five levels of charisma leveling to unlock supply lines.

And from what you're saying it seems like you have multiple settlements and are working on building them all. Why wouldn't you invest in Local leader if you were doing that?

Make a chain, not a web.
>>
>>316497135
>>316497268
Do people usually not bunker down in a single place and make it their house? Why would you want to constantly move your weapons and armor place-to-place on a regular basis? I could see you doing it maybe one or twice when you decide to pack up and move to a different house like when you moved from megaton to tenpenny tower in 3 or from novac to big MT in NV.
>>
>>316497725
Especially since you have fast travel, there is no reason for any distance related storage since you can just warp home from anywhere.
>>
>>316497725
I actually only use rocket but that's partially because the whole system is so inconvenient without the perk, and still lackluster afterwards
If I have it all in one place I can at least chek my total components by looting it all and enabling component view in my inventory

>>
>>316498006
Supply webbing doesn't work apparently, only chaining. So if you want to have everything you own in red rocket you can have that as your starting point and just make your chain from there.

In the end if you do get invested in base-building once you chain all your settlements together then it doesn't matter where you put your junk because you'll be able to access it at any settlement in the world.

I literally don't have that. I have maxed stores and just get insane caps from trading between my settlements. This leads to me getting around 600 caps per trip then I just buy shipments in bulk. I have 400 of every single component in most of my settlements right now. Feels really really good

Fellow raider here, no you can't do either of those things. But you can put all your settlers in raider armor and use edgy skull posts to pretend your a raider

That's pretty much what my whole game has been so far. Pretending I'm a raider because Fallout 4 sure as fuck wasn't designed around the idea that your character would be anything other than chaotic good
>>
>>316497039

Charisma is needed if you want to build towns and shit. Just as strenght or whatever is needed to be a melee badass. I hate to sound like a smartass but this is like, video games mechanics 101.
>>
>>316498441
Yeah sure, after you got the perk it's much more convenient, but the game could still use a dedicated menu showing you your component count and allowing you to designate which ones to highlight

No, every settlement connected shares all its junk/components, unless there was a patch. Stop talking bulshit.
>>

Exactly. My current method for checking my stores is just storing everything in one settlement, putting only junk in the workbench, and then using component view in inventory. That's kinda shit, though, and it doesn't let me highlight stuff. Hell, only component view for storages would help a lot.

Yeap. You go into the workbench editor mode for a settlement, find a settler, push Q on him, and then tell him which town to go to.

So the best you can do if you wanted that particular menu is to withdraw all your junk, go to the junk tab in your inventory, then press c for component view. there you can see all the components you have and you can tag them for search there.

If you already know what you're low on you can skip all that and just withdraw one item that has that component or find an item that does and tag it from your pip-boy.

I am not an expert, but 200 years a seems reasonable enough time to wait before repopulating the earth after a nuclear holocaust.

I'll grant you this, though. If I ever set up a post-apoc society, I'd make sure to clean out all the literall skeletons lying about. You could probably chalk it up on FO artists trying to drve home their point, but the rubble and corpses just sittng there is kinda weird.

So would you rather live in your world or the Fallout world before the Great War? Let's say you die in 2076, so you don't have to worry about nucealr holocaust. You do have to worry about fuel shortages, food shortages, and a hemorrhagic plague.

Yeah this is why mods are so great. "What if the Sole Survivor where forced into a settlement manageme t simulator? Me and my truope of improv theatre actors think it would go a little like this..."

*Que exterior, vault 111 entrance*

Sole Survivor: So it has come to this. Atomic Armageddon?

*music swells*

Sole Survivor: I must go on! Pushing through the dawn to a new horizon!

*Andrew Lloyd Weeber creams his pant*
