If DRM wasn't a thing and all boxed games could be played installed and played in full without needing an internet connection, the problem would be fixed.

I can download 25gb in under an hour and have no data cap. You either live in a third world shithole and are irrelevant or you live in some uncommon backwater shithole in a first world country and might as well be irrelevant. The majority of the relevant world (the world that has money and an active interest in new tech) has no problem with it, and they are relevant.
