Mega Man, Pac-Man, Sonic and now Cloud all have the original qualities that made them memorable represented in Smash, as well as several nods and references to their original games for the true video game enthusiast (something as simple as Cloud's dash animation being the same as when he rushes in to an enemy in FF7) and the owner of the IP often forgets the rich history of their own character.

Default is fighter, you switch with down B for the other classes. Activating smash ball makes it where the next opponent you touch and those within grab range of them draws you into a scene like the related image where you can choose attack/magic/item with various effects. Or it could be like Little Mac/Bowser where you get a temporary super mode or in this case you become the second jobs from the game black mage to wizard, fighter to knight, and so on.

Because Sakurai knows how to really show respect. He pretty much flat out shat all over how Capcom represented Megaman in the MvC universe saying that he uses his fists and shit, but that doesn't really sell out what makes the character unique. So rather than being lazy and being uncreative, he literally tried to think of a moveset that truly felt like how Megaman would fight.
Other games pretty much tame the lazy way out with their IPs caus they kinda feel like "meh, we're giving you the chance to use them, enjoy it." While Sakurai truly puts respect into every character. I was so fucking surprised to hear Ryu parry when he perfect shields. Small details like that really show the dedication put into perfecting the character's representation.
