We know not to approximate the success of this game on first-week sales alone as game companies (sometimes ourselves included) are often wont to do, since SC is a special case in pretty much every way -- so I wouldn't worry about sales figures just yet. Actually it does, the old artstyle anyway. Pick any anime from the early 00s and compare it to 10s design and there's an obvious difference. Not saying they don't have their faults of merits, but the design for Trails back then had its charm.
Guilty Gear artstyle for example changed radically from Accent Core to Xrd, and while the new one did its job to attract newer audience, there's definitely a different appeal to their old art.

I have 7 Nep games, and I will tell you that they are objectively bad. The only reason for getting a Neptunia game is for the characters, which to be completely honest aren't that great either. Over the course of these games, nothing really changes. The new mechanics introduced (all one of them) just make your combos longer, just like in the last game and the game before that. Whoopdiefuckingdoo.
The only appeal I can think of is the 3d models in 1080p, and the strong magnetism toward waifufags.
Why don't people actually talk about the game in Nep threads? Because there honestly isn't much to talk about. At all.

Every Falcom game is far worse than nepnep games. They have literally no atmosphere, dry boring visuals, often silent protagonists, gay cheesy ass music, the most uninspired combat possible, cookie cutter storylines, lackluster if any character development, and the list just fucking goes on.
Best game Falcom ever made was Xanadu Next.

I enjoyed Destiny, but it was pretty lacking in the motivation department sometime. Dhaos was kind of a fuckwit, but he at least made you feel a connection between the characters and the save the world story.
Other than Leon(if he even counts), Destiny's badguys were probably among the most forgettable in RPG history. Maybe phantasy star gaiden was worse, but just about everything in that game was worse than everything ever.
It's amazing Destiny worked as well as did given that, honestly.
