Of all the Final Fantasy representatives he's the most iconic individual, people actually know who he is.
Also they're remaking VII at the moment, I suspect we may see that on a future Nintendo console as Square/Enix and Nintendo seem to have a pretty solid budding relationship at the moment.
Only things we didn't already (officially) know about were:

-DLC for games that are already out
-games that are already out in Japan that are coming West
So yeah, one of the worst directs ever. The Wii U and the 3DS are officially dead, they're obviously spreading remaining projects butter-thin and saving the good shit for the NX. I'm surprised they confirmed Zelda for 2016 since this solidifies NX for 2016 in the minds of any doubters
Dragon Quest was all I wanted out of Nintendo, since I knew SE wouldn't step up unless pressured, so I give it a 10/10. My condolences to those who had hopes and expectations for anything else though.

Due to character limitation, I couldn't specify "40 gears now and maps later on", the point was simply that while 2 maps were found on disc, 2 completely different maps were announced during the direct (one leaked a few hours prior on splatnet).
The way they say that they'll update "at least up until january" is no different from their previous "at least to the end of summer", but who knows how long they'll keep the free updates up, considering it's a 50$ game.

I should've clarified what I meant by graphics. OoT3D's and MM3D's assets are built from the ground up, including character models, items, and environments. They did not exist before those games.
WWHD and TPHD, on the other hand, are using the same assets from the original code at a higher resolution.
Remakes are redone completely from the ground up. Rereleases usually are untouched despite resolution change but may feature some improvements.

Google "Wind Waker HD" and you'll find it's called "a Wii U remake of the Nintendo GameCube game".
