Who else was able to get Fallout 4 to run on your shitty old PCs? After a lot of frustration I was able to get it to run on my laptop, an old HP Pavilion G7 with a 512mb ATI graphics chip and 12gb of RAM. It runs like shit at the absolute lowest settings at only 15-20fps at best, but it's playable.
It looks terrible in the screenshots, but it's enough for me to play in motion
It runs much better in indoor areas though, getting a smooth 30fps

Disable the Ambient Occlusion and set your shadow quality to Low.
That's literally all you need but if you still experience some framerate issues then consider setting to the lighting to High instead of Ultra.
Also grass fade to the lowest on the slide bar. Everything else can be slightly over half way.
DISABLE WETNESS IN THE ADVANCE OPTION or else you'll get THIS when it rains.

well you have PCIe 3 so any modern card is good, the real issue is if your power supply can work, so to make it simple, buy a GTX 750ti and be sure to get the REFERENCE card, not any of EVGA's editions. You'll find that it works, the main menu loads up fine, but selecting New Game crashes your graphics driver.

I have a Core i5 4670k with 8 gigs of ram and i am still using my old hd 5870, since my new card blew up and i am waiting for it's replacement.
I can play the game at 1080p at 60 fps in most parts, but downtown Boston, which kill my shit to an unbearable 20 shit fps. That's why i used radeon pro to lock my fps to 30 it's actually playable now, but i also have shit muddy looking textures since i only have 1gig vram.

For those that want to lower their shadow options that much, go to the fallout4pers.ini file, and change iShadowMapResolution to 0. It will disable shadows completely.
