The change pre/post EA takeover is really noticeable, especially when you realise that ME1 was released 1 month after EA took them over (so it was developed without EA). ME2 was developed and released after EA.
The complete disregard of the fairly detailed background and setting development set up in ME1 is startling. Especially the move to ammo in ME2 with heat sinks.
The first game goes into detail about heat, heat absorption, heat sink technology being significantly advanced and all that. The ship's stealth mode isn't something that makes the ship completely invisible, it's something that absorbs all of the ship's heat output, making it impossible to detect on scanners. Because space combat doesn't take place at visual range, because that's ridiculous. The ship's heat sinks absorb all the heat it emits, then it has to dump that heat, which means the stealth mode is effective but comes with a downside. And the same technology passes into the guns. It's nice background stuff that doesn't directly affect the gameplay, but it just holds everything together; there's a viable reason for things to be the way they are, so your brain accepts it as part of the overall suspension of belief.
But then ME2 shits all over that with disposable heat sinks in the guns, which is a retarded thing to do and only exists to make the gameplay more action-y. So the technology exists to build heat sinks advanced enough to store all the heat that a fucking massive spaceship can emit for hours and hours, but they can't make a heat sink that can dissipate the heat of a gunshot? It makes no sense. It's one of those little things that just sticks in your mind, even if you're not consciously thinking about it, and it builds into a big ball of bullshit with all the other little things.
I really would like to see what Mass Effect as a setting would've become without EA going all focus group development on it like they usually do.

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, you see Hawke's face, and in you can customize it yourself to look like the character you played in DA2 or leave it default. You can also set Hawke's personality to whichever of the 3 you primarily used in DA2.

As someone who played all three DA games, II was irredeemable garbage in almost every way. The story is meandering and directionless, and most importantly, it has nothing to do with the largest threats of the setting. The whole boil-over of the Mage vs Templar problem was so forced, rushed, and generally overplayed on both sides that I sat there wishing I could choose to fight for NEITHER side, seeing as both camps are filled with unlikable, irredeemable pricks and psychopaths.
Next is the gameplay. On consoles, it was boring. On PC, it was borderline unplayable. Just mashing buttons over and over to do your edgy fucking combat animations instead of DA:O's more traditional, strategic ability use was a terrible decision, especially on keyboard.
Next is the game's design as a whole. The fucking recycled environments (Cave, House, Deep Roads) used over and over again with only the most token effort to make them appear different was disgusting. The ps1-quality character models and sprites, fucking Sprites, strewn about the city in plain view just speaks of such a lack of respect for their consumer...I can't even articulate how unacceptable that is, ESPECIALLY in an RPG, where the whole idea is becoming immersed in the world.

Honestly, ME3 was a divider for me because then I learned to never trust /v/ again to seriously discuss games.Nowadays I just come here to laugh
The game wasn't perfect, but the way people reacted here (and everywhere else, but not with the same intensity) was too much. There was a vicious negativity here though that still hasn't been erased. People complain about literally anything in a game now, nothing is good enough.
Going back to ME3, it had the best combat of the series, probably the mission with most outcomes depending on multiple past game choices in there and the MP mode was truly fun, something that went completely overlooked under the constant shitposting. And the ending wasn't the worst aspect of the game, imo, but how they went back on dialog system and the casualization of the side missions. Also, Liara as a dev's pet.
tl;dr I'd my fun playing ME3 despite some serious flaws of the game, and will give ME:A a try.

I imported my character from ME1 to ME2 all the way to ME3. A character that I spent hundreds of hours and several years playing as.
I made all the right choices just to get that scene where his chest breathes in the end and even the strategy guide book that says Shepard lives.
Then they just say that Shepard is dead no matter what you do. Even the file names say that Shepard lives and they think people will forget this.

Inquisition, like DAII before it, is fucking terribly written. For starters, the big conflict between Mages and Templars that DAII did such a shitty job kicking off is immediately thrown out when all the important people on both sides of the conflict are blown up. This is how DA2 should have ended! THIS IS WHAT DA2 SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT!
But no, they blow up, and you, the mystical special snowflake survivor, must earn the trust of your captors, except nothing you say or do so much as changes the flow of the conversation. You are the bad guy, until suddenly it is unanimously decided that you, the prisoner and suspected magical terrorist, must direct all the forces in the army (and this is before you are declared Jesus II by Butch "The Battle-Manface" Pentaghast and Leliana "Merely a Flesh Wound" Spytits)
The story, as a whole, isn't really about a great threat to the world. It's more clumsy, hamfisted attempts at Empowering the Player, elevating the player in status to make them feel like they're accomplishing something, when they're really just eating pre-made cardboard and shit sandwiches they've placed.
See, DA:O wasn't about getting rich or being in charge. It was about Saving the Fucking World, despite the odds laid against you. Facing mistrust and betrayal consistently over the course of your adventure, and overcoming it for the greatest good.
The games that followed were more masturbatory. Making your character the center of authority and attention through pure happenstance, declaring you the coolest and the strongest, with the biggest dick, before the story's even started. The story revolves around you, not the impending threat to the land.
And, to cap it all off, THE MAIN ANTAGONIST OF INQUISITION IS A BOSS FROM THE DLC OF THE PREVIOUS GAME. A BOSS YOU KILL.
THEY LITERALLY LELIANA'D THE MAIN ANTAGONIST INTO THE GAME SO THAT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO WRITE A NEW VILLAIN. FUCK THIS GAME.

The problem with Inquisition is that it is inexorably tied for Dragon Age II, which is literally undefendable.
