Streamers influence a lot of gamers and many many people believe that the amount of views directly translate into the game being good. Also, lots of people play games today because they want to fit in and feel the need to be legitimated by others in order to enjoy a game. So a game with a big and relevant community helps create that illusion. That's where streamers come in.
Gamers also can't differentiate a game journalist's critic from a streamer's opinion, because let's be honest, they are worth the same.
