Because only one piece of DLC (worst season pass ever, fuck you gearbox), and pretty much was a meh game compared to Borderlands 2, so after everyone played though it and the claptrap DLC, everyone went on to something else or back to Borderlands 2 if they needed their Borderlands fix.
TL:DR; It was an OK game that was shitty by Borderlands standards.

You're right,I don't really understand the gfx compression methods,all I know is the bus width on 980 is smaller than on 780 ti,which I have,and I have no problems with Physx on medium and slight FPS drops on high,so I suggested that might be the problem.

The scaling in bl2 kinda fucked up the way that you could get attached to guns. there's a few orange guns in bl1 that i'll never forget, in bl2 the only one i can remember is the conference call.
BL2 is better but i'm still but hurt that my favourite guns didn't get carried over to 2 and that so many people ignore it.

I pirated Presequel a while ago and it really is kinda boring. Its always dark and the oxygen mechanic makes it impossible to stay still for too long unless you are inside a safe area.

BL2 wasn't so bad for exploring. There were secret areas, easter eggs, treasure, bosses, and collectables to reward you for going outside your main objective. Compare this to FFIV which is an MMO, and exploring is a part of that genre, and it has none of that shit. Compare to Destiny which does have some of the things BL2 offers, but in a much more cluttered and copy-pasted areas.

CEO said they are working on Borderlands projects but none of them are BL3 (officially). That suggest that the next game is likely another spin-off and BL3 is still in pre-production phase (ideas and planning).
As far as Telltale goes, I suppose it depends on whether gearbox was satisfied with the first run (I haven't heard anything). Telltale has generated a good name, but I wonder if any of their products outside the Walking Dead have been financial successes.
