After seeing all the new gameplay vids of Fallout 4 I loved it and I went and pre-ordered the game, everywhere I go every video game related forum I go to everybody is extremely excited and hyped for this game like me and were all pretty much in agreement that its gonna be the game of the year.
But then I come here and everybody hates it, Is it really that bad? Should i cancel my pre-order? Please tell me what im missing.

Listen, one-sided fuck. If you truly loved fallout 1 and 2 because of complexity, go fucking play more cRPGs. That kind of RPG style of gaming is now considered (or always have been) niche and its fine. Fallout 3 style of RPG hit the first person shooter-aspect and it puts YOU into the perspective instead of a god camera. Its also fine.
Seriously that pic triggers me so hard because all gameplay from all Fallouts were unique in their own way. But its because of 1 and 2 that I enjoy Baldurs Gate and Arcanum. I personally have such strong sense of immersion when playing the game, I don't need the first person view. Hell, I played most of the time in FO3 in third person, just to SEE who I am. Then there's games like Silent Hill 1-3, that spooked me out very hard, no matter the 3rd person view.

Well I think /v/ is needed to counter all the Bethesdrones going "omg FO4 is gonna be GOTY" , "Todd is god", "Bethesda can do no wrong".
I am pretty sure the game's gonna be fun for a lot of hours if one does not mind the outdated graphics, bugs and dumbed down roleplaying aspects. However, if you want a real RPG and not a FPS-RPG-light-mix you'll probably be disappointed.

The dialogue options have went downhill but the skills are literally the fucking same. Fallout 1 has just crammed everything onto a single screen. Fallout 3 had the stats and the perks in separate categories and now Fallout 4 has given you bigger vault boy pictures for each one with the available perks underneath each one.

Hahahaha no. You see modders have tried to do that in Skyrim but none of that took off. You know why? Cause Bethesda are ultra hacks and tied all animation to skeleton. I think you're all forgetting tnat no other game is similiar to TES and fallout. I've been searching for a very.long time but nothing suffices. So the reason I personally am mad is because I want the series.to get better and better time because I'm so used to it. That doesnt mean Im happy with the removal of skills which were there since the fucking start. Obviously the series is headed to a wrong direction. I'm all for knowing exactly what your character is going to say, especially in situations where you can actively create how your character acts (Fallout 4, Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect are all very much a middle ground, you can only slightly change how your character acts) but in this case it's more likely that your character will react in a rather known way, he will be some kind of an asshole, possibly attempt some snark.

What you're seeing going on here OP is warring factions of marketing companies.
Because of things that have happened in the past the idea now is that if these companies shit all over each others games and generally talk down everything that they can they then discredit all negative talk about everything that goes on here. It allows them to successfully hide their shit in amongst it too giving them the excuse that everything is called shit here and that just because people call it shit doesn't actually mean it is shit.
In fact though most modern games are pretty shit so it's not all that far from the truth.

I don't know what to tell you man. I truly hated Fallout 3. Fallout 4 looks pretty fun, but I thought the same thing about 3 before I bought it.
I honest to god think its the setting/aesthetics combined with how fucking buggy the games are.
Like I feel like I should really like Fallout 3/NV/4 because I like Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim a lot. But honestly Fallouts world is so fucking disgusting to look at.
