Did they really not implement any way to reload from combat without having to restart the whole game? Or did I overlook something?

git gud skrub
>>
>>315623778
I'd let it slide, if KO'd units didn't disappear forever, like in Disgaea. But they fucking do. And I'm not willing to lose a unit even if I win. And Disgaea lets you quit and reload in addition.
>>
>>315623685
I don't remember but doesn't quick reset work with the game?
>>
>>315623685
FFT is easy as shit so there is no point. Only reason why you would need to restart a battle is if one of your units died and even then is your fault for not having available ways to revive them.
>>
>>315624072
How's a revive spell with 75%+ chance missing three times in a row is my fault?
Why the fuck healing magic even has a chance to miss?
>>
>>315624202
Again, have you tried doing the quick reset? I.e. pressing and holding L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + select + start at the same time?
>>
>>315624202
Is your fault for not having chemists and phoenix down that work 100% of the times.
>>
>>315624314
>chemists

I loved how chemists were so useful and that you had to learn to use each and every item individually. I hope one day we get another FFT that isn't as dumbed down as the GBA/DS games.
>>
>>315624296
I don't have L2 or R2 on my PSP.
>>315624314
But chemists are fucking useless. They require the target to be in line of sight, they expend consumable items and phoenix down revives units with no HP.
>>
>>315624465
>I don't have L2 or R2 on my PSP.

Oh, I've never had a PSP isn't there a quick reset combination for it?
>>
>>315624450
>I loved how chemists were so useful and that you had to learn to use each and every item individually.
I seriously hope you were being ironic.
>>
>>315623917
You have three turns to either throw a Phoenix Down on them or finish the battle. If that's too hard for you then you need to git gud.
>>
>>315624558
>I seriously hope you were being ironic.

Nope, why would you think that?
>>
>>315624554
What do you mean by quick reset? Restarting the whole game? That's exactly what I don't want to do every time I just want to reload a save file.
>>
>>315624465
>chemists
>fucking useless.

I don't think we played the same game.
>>
>>315624629
Who in their right mind would think that having to unlock something as simple and basic as using every fucking item individually is a good mechanic?
>>
>>315624654
Quick reset moves you directly to the start screen of the game, so that it only takes a couple of seconds to reload. I don't remember if FFT had that function built in or not though. Many games still do (e.g. Mario 3D Land on the 3ds: L+R+select+start).
>>
>>315624698
I've listed their downsides, go ahead, try to name something they're good for.
Except the Safeguard passive that lets you not to get RNG-fucked by enemy Knights rending your equipment.
>>
>>315624736
>Who in their right mind would think that having to unlock something as simple and basic as using every fucking item individually is a good mechanic?

I sincerely do. I hated how they dumbed down item usage in later FFT games.
>>
>>315624465
You can also teach Items to any other unit if you want. Healing items are dirt cheap in this game, so why not use them?
>>
I was playing on my Vita but got so annoyed with the slow spells that I ended up restarting on my phone. Just the PSP emulator, download the ISO, use the patch, and then you can save state before battles for quick reloading. It's great.
>>
>>315623685
How are you so bad at this game? Aside from choke point like dorter and draw your sword senpai, there's no hard battle.
>>
>>315624973
I know, I've already made an overpowered party. I just want to have a thread about the game.
>>
>>315624909
well, apart from being the ONLY job that can use items they can use guns for free and learn the best reaction skill in the fucking game.
>>
>>315624909
>try to name something they're good for.

Differnt anon here but

>they can throw items (items have a 100% hit rate)
>they can use guns and can damage enemies from across the screen
>auto potion passive & move find item!
>>
>>315625048
>the best reaction skill in the fucking game
But Shirahadori is a Samurai skill.
>>
>>315625042
So... how was your first experience with drawyoursword-kun?
>>
>>315625195
That's not how you spell hamado.
>>
It's a fucking playstation 1 game.

It's old.

They didn't think of everything.
>>
>>315625324
Coincidentally that's not how you spell hamedo
>>
>>315625219
Well, I didn't have auto-potion learned, because as I mentioned before chemists are fucking useless. But before that single mission I always had my party to back me up, because I built it so all the units could act in synergy with each other.
I didn't want to go back and grind, so I used the speed stacking Squire exploit.
At least it looked humorous - Ramza running from corner to corner and shouting like crazy, then slapping Wiegraf's shit ten times in a row.

The only good thing about Rafa is that she was raped.
>>
>>315625456
It feels like every single melee class can run through this fight no problem. Did you make Ramza a mage or something?
>>
>>315625516
Agrias is a saberfag bait.
Reis, Celia and Valmafra are all top tier waifus.
Some of the generics are cool too.
>>
>>315625590
No, I just didn't grind.
Wiegraf's holy sword techniques hit for 140 unavoidable damage every turn (and he got the first turn too). Ramza had around 300 HP at that point.
It basically requires you to have Auto-Potion and sell all your regular and Hi-potions. Or have a Ninja with double attacks and super high speed.
And I didn't even have Ninja unlocked. In the PSP version all job requirements are at least one level higher than in the PS1 game. So for classes that require more than one job to unlock, the increase in JP required is a few times higher even.
>>
>>315625386
Funnily enough, the PSX original indeed has a soft reset feature. So they actually did think of everything.
>>
>>315623685
just use the chariot tarot haha
>>
>>315626024

OP is asking if it's in the options.

Also, soft reset restarts the game, which he said he doesn't wanna do in this thread.
>>
>>315625964
I never grinded in fft and I always slapped his shit with monk without dying.

Although I can't recall if I did that through that directional line move or punching him in his face.

But knight can break his sword. Squire can yell. I'm pretty sure every melee class can wreck him.

Though the psp version being different means I know jack shit about that one.
>>
>>315626126
>Also, soft reset restarts the game, which he said he doesn't wanna do in this thread.

He wants a quick way to reload. Soft reset is the quickest way to reload in the original FFT. I can't imagine that there isn't a way to soft reset the PSP version. But like I said I've never had a PSP. So who knows?
>>
>>315626257
I had Monk as my primary job when I got to him, and I simply couldn't win against him in a DPS race. I had neither the speed nor raw damage to do so.
It's really bullshit how you can't block the sword techniques at all. Although now, when I have not one but two overpowered holy knights in my own party, I can't complain.

The psp version must be really different then.
>>
>>315626809
Well, I'm in the same boat, sorta, since I haven't played the PS version.
>>
>>315627425
I mean the changes are all done to jp right? So you'd just have to grind to get the specific moves that break the fight. I'm certain all melee classes have some.
>>
>>315627574
I've just heard it's overall harder than the PS1 version, but I have no precise numbers for anything but the JP changes.
>>
>>315624465
Having the ability to chain revives with thrown phoenix downs is pretty useful in 1.3
>>
Will we ever get a new FFT?
>>
>>315624654
Cant't you go to battle menu and quit to title screen?
>>
>>315629463

Probably when someone at Square Enix, completely out of imagination and looking to make a quick buck, realizes that people enjoyed the old games.

Now a new FFT that's actually decent? Fuck no.

Speaking of which, FFT and FFT:A, which was the better game?
>>
>>315629675
FFT has a mod scene, that should be the end of the discussion.
>>
>>315629675
I fucking hated everything about ffta. I dropped it after like 4 hours.

FFT >>>>> FFT:A, in my opinion.

My favorite SRPGs on consoles go somthing like this:

>FFT (PSX)
>Warsong aka Langrisser (Mega Drive)

Losing a piece of equipment to fuckhead knights or Meliadoul = instant reload.
(Well, not really instant, since the game won't fucking let you)
>>
>>315631248
The game becomes too easy after you get meliadoul and orlandu

Matsuno has great ideas and systems he just needs to learn how to balance shit.

Both FFT and TO would have been much better games with some more love given to balance and difficulty.

Btw, anons. How is that FFT clone Mercenaries Saga on the 3DS? Is it out in Europe yet?

>>
>>315632928
>Those characters ARE the way to balance the game's bullshit difficulty.

Except the game isn't really hard at all if you don't over-level Ramza. I'm with the other anon. I only use Orlandu in random battles to get him some JPs.
>>
>>315633194
Get him JP for what? If you're not gonna use him in the story missions.

>>315633402
I'm a completionist. Sometimes I hate my gaming OCD.
>>
>>315633402
>get cloud
>game ends and I only got 2 of the limit abilities
That was pointless
>>
>>315633562
No wonder you didn't notice the difficulty. You probably had all the jobs mastered before you even started the story quests.
>>
>>315631417
I can't think of any tactics game that doesn't have ape-shit balancing. Japs love numbers.
>>
>>315633663
I won't lie, I usually do a lot of optional battles. But I bet the game the first time when I was 13 and only had a very basic understanding of the English language. It was kind of difficult then, but mainly because I over-leveled Ramza and got my ass kicked in random battles because the enemy units had much higher levels than the side-troops I tried levelling up a bit.
