That's just the trade off for such a huge increase in the quantities of supports.
I'd honestly say the number of good supports is higher than average in the newer games but because you have unrestricted access to every single one of them the bad ones stand out a lot more, and so the ratio of good to bad is much worse.

I agree with on the quality of support convos, but at least things making your own character and playing eugenics gives you replay value. And then, if there's replay value, it makes sense to have a higher amount of supports (but yeah, they should be better written).
If future FEs manage to give me customization and replayability like/even more than Awakening without OC donut characters, that's fine by me. Otherwise, I'd rather stay as we are
