I've been saying for years that CoD will eventually get the same treatment that Halo, World of Warcraft, and other OGhated games received. I was not wrong. CoD is accepted fully here, even if some users still pretend to "play it ironically" or "think its shit but still play all of them".
It's easy to find people who say Halo was always loved here.
It's easy to find people who say WoW was always loved here.
In the near future, it will be easy to find people who say the same about CoD.
