Can we talk about Anno?
>>315369708
How do I get Diamond? I can't figure out how to produce it.
Steam reviews say the new one is shit, can /v/ confirm this?
>>315369708
I think 3.0 was better than End of
>>315370424
Been playing it for a couple hours now. I'm not impressed.
>>315370424
It's not very good. They removed a lot of staples in the series in order to make the game more streamlined. It's worth a pirate, but not worth paying for at all.
Definitely worth a pirate if you like comfy snow levels.
>>315370424
its way more casual. they removed much of the foundation of the classic gameplay and it feels like a board game now. there's no random maps, you don't compete with anyone else on the map, there's no struggle for resources or out witting your opponents to control the best islands.
that said the moon and arctic are pretty neat and the game is gorgeous but that's the worst part because you just wish the core game-play was there on top of the nice graphics.
>>315370235
pls send help
>>315371203
All they had to do is the same shit as the transition between 1404 and 2070, take the exact same gameplay and just expand on it, it's so simple.
>>315371278
pretty much, it just makes you angry and sad. it such a shame too because 2070 really, really grew on me and i came to love it as much as 1404. the graphics of 2205 are so nice when you play you think to yourself this would be so fucking cool with random maps especially the big dams in different places and how good the mountains look.
If you were gonna colonize the arctic why the fuck would you use tents
Will the Modders fix it?
>>315372506
too much to fix im so fucking angry at this shit. if u need a production chain u just build building A then it says u got 5 of good x and the next building in the chain needs 5 of good x to produce good y and guess what the next one needs 5 of y to produce 5 z which ur ppl want.
>>315372364
>If you were gonna colonize the arctic why the fuck would you use tents
Does seem a little city, tents tend to be the dwelling of choice for arctic environments simply because they're light, it's expensive to cart heavy materials to the ends of the earth, and downright impossible if your only means of getting in/out is by air....but they're not exactly colonizing places in real life, and when they do they'll ship in proper buildings.
In Anno's case it's just dumb.
Like the intended playerbase.
Fuck this game and fuck anyone who bought it and hasn't refunded it.
>>315372506
Why would they waste their time?
1404 and 2070 have great mod communities and solid base games.
Anno 2205 offers nothing to build upon.
>>315372506
It's some fundamental problems, I am hoping it has a civ-tier expac that reworks this shit from the ground up. I am just happy people think the same way I do about the game, hopefully Ubi will listen.
>>315372506
i doubt it. i'm pretty sure germany is going have a national day of mourning for the death of this series and just go back 1404/2070.
>>315372797
Better Graphics new mod potential.
>>315372808
NSN is speaking with the Dev's at boobiesoft, he's a long time vet of the Anno series so hopefully his internet fame and experience will carry the day for the playerbase.
>>315373401
What are his opinions of the game?

>>315370424
If you haven't played Anno before, you might like it.
If you have played Anno before and hated it, give it a try.
If you played Anno and liked any part of it, do not play 2205.
>>315375056
So I should just go play 2070 or 1404 instead?
>>315375136
Absolutely
>>315375205
If given the choice between either, which do you suggest?
>>315375229
Do you want low-tech or high-tech?
I'm downloading the game now, I never played Anno but loved Tropico. I saw in the NSN vid that I posted that you play a corporation, do you get up to any Syndicate shenanigans? Is it the same in 2070?
Remember playing 1701, its pretty cool, but I wish german styled strategy games were less hippie, combat was so bland it almost like game actually tries to discourage you from even trying it.
>>315374906
He seems very positive.
>>315375787
He rags a bit on the resource system and depth later, to me it seems very simple but recently I re-installed ceasar 3 so I got my city building skills back in order quick.
>>315370424
Transportation is pretty much done automatically, multiplayer is gone. Basically your playing city skylines with a hint of anno in it. Its not all bad but its the first "bad" anno game sadly.
>>315375229
they are basically same games, only that 1404 is in year 1404 and witouth always-online, but i like 2070 more, has deep ocean dlc which adds a lot to the game, it's just fun, tried 2205 for 4 hours or so, this did nothing good to the genre
>>315375056
Funny, I like 2070 but I enjoy this one as well.
Definitely not the same bag.
Is there really no randomized maps anymore?
>>315372707
There are permanent colonies in Antarctica and they have proper buildings.
Also, some of us can't get a refund :(
So, are there working pirate versions now? I don't want to give Ubishit money, especially if the game is meh.
>>315370235
Be Boss. Kill staff. Get ash. Make Diamond.
>>315376082
nope
>>315377454
yes
>>315377574
Link to some safe one? I don't want russian bitcoin miners.
>>315377647
>>315377647
this works fine for me
pssst.
Dawn of Discovery on Steam is Anno 1401 in disguise
>>315377574
Why the hell would you do that? Why would you play the game again with the exact same maps.
>>315378790
you don't, anno 2205 replay value is very low
this is nothing like 2070
Never played anno before. Been playing for a couple of hours and I'm liking it but i definitely sense a lack of challenge. Should I just go ahead and try 2070 of 1404?

Is there truly no way to produce the upgrade materials yourself?
I read that you keep getting them only via side missions, which would be beyond utterly fucking retarded. Those combat missions aren't even indie game tier, they're absolutely shit. I can't begin to conceive what made them think that that shit would be a good idea.
>>315371278
I kept thinking "new Anno is gon b gud, no way they fuck that up - Anno was basically the same game for 15 years now, anyway".
Then this.
Fucking glad I pirated first.

That's fucking great.
what a horrible fate for one of the funnest and most consistent franchises in video games despite being owned by ubisoft. all good things must come to an end.
rip anno
you will be sorely missed.
>>315379575
I know, thanks to CODEX I learned about Nemesis The Warlock and I plan on finding a way to play it in the near future when I've freed some space from my pc for the Commodore emulator and the game itself.
This puts into perspective why they decided to cancel having a beta. People would have called them on the shallowness of the game.
>>315379628
Thank goodness my favourite game starring best centurion and best sneaky boy never got a sequel, because something tells me it would've been a huge fucking garbage that would've stained the game's name forever. Instead it died silently but respectfully.
>>315379873
yes, financially a good decision
i mean, fucking slots on coastline?
>>315372506
They'll sell an expansion pack putting back in half the shit they ripped out, mark my words. That said I'm enjoying it, but it sure as hell isn't an Anno title.
The game looks absolutely amazing, a very nice vision of humanity in the future. The gameplay is changed for the worse, though.
Eva was shit
>This series can't make a game from year 1801-2006
How does that make you feel?
>>315380450
What made Anno great was the comfy low-tech setting without the troubles of modern technology and all that artificial light.
>>315379949
That game fucked history in the ass so hard.
have you come to me to learn more about oriental ahh kee teksha???
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIZblkqjBCc
how can i see how much people does one house hold?
how can i see how many workers i currently have and how many of them are working, so if i upgrade a house, i wont be short of workers?
anno 2205
>>315380582
I'm not denying the story was literally a "noire", fanfiction-tier version of the real events behind Caesar's death, I'm just saying it was entertaining in terms of combat, environment, graphics and story too and maybejust maybeit could've had the premise for a sequel. It was flawed for sure, but it was enjoyable anywayand I kinda liked how normal legionares wore lorica musculata instead of the usual lorica hamata and segmentata seen everywhere. It wasn't immersive but I'm sure they would've given them the segmentata one instead, which is just as immmersion-breaking.
Also are there any Anno games set in ancient greece or rome? Never played any Anno game but if there's something like that I may actually start.
>>315380628
Anno games have really good soundtracks and the new one is no exception, whatever else you may wanna say about it.
Jesus christ. What they needed to was add gameplay and complexity where it made sense, not remove a bunch of depth. The game being simpler is not suddenly gonna convince a huge mass of people to pick it up, but Ubi chasing those sales numbers, as always.
Can anybody explain to my why you shouldnt just slap your stuff full of Tier 1/2 houses and supply them?
Every time I plan to get another line of products online I bleed credits like mad.
Also who the fuck thought its okay to introduce upgrades so late? My autism requires me perfection now I got shitloads of production buildings blocking the better upgrades.
>>315381516
Enjoy grinding shitty missions to get upgrade materials.
>>315371819
The problem is... I think that Related Design actually saw people criticism of "Anno 2070 is 1404 with a new skin!" which was a BS claim because Anno 2070 expanded so fucking much. And they tried to turn the whole gameplay upside down. It didn't work at all though.
I really blame shortcomings of 2205 on a very harsh critique of 2070 early on, that might've left the impression of "Change the game bse completely".
I'm really sad too because I was so hyped for 2205. I still might get the CE of it just for the soundtrack and artbook. Anno 2070 artbook is top tier
>>315381619
they also might've taken to account anno 2070's steam user review percentage, and thought: "this isn't working" but the game is great actually
2205 would be ok for me with multiplayer/sandbox/random gen map
>>315381746
Yeah that's what I'm saying. On Metacritic and Steam, the game is SLAMMED in the reviews much to my anger. 2070 did everything so fucking right in being a near-future post-apocalyptic game with a sense of "We can fix it" to it. While online components are Senate, world event and world leader could be deemed as unnecessary, they were nice additions. Things felt good once you played a bit of it.
My only complaint was the ridiculously hard campaign that revealed a lot of backstory of Steinberg, Deli, Bartok, Rufus and Yana. And also all the cut NPC banter that showed that there was much more sinister things at hand happening at EDEN initiative.
>>315369708
is it just me or does 2205 feel really really simplified. I remember having more building options that the ones in 2205
>>315381912
Gotta take into account that most reviews were written at launch, though, and the 2070 launch was a fucking disaster.
>tfw played like 12 hours of 1404 over the last two days and pretty burnt out
>>315381746
i bought 2070 over the summer. i researched a lot of steam reviews and it seemed like the vast majority of them were about how fucking awful uplay was when it first came out and the game being 'too much online' which is fair, because sometimes when you're just trying to do some ark management it just randomly lags and when you first start the game sometimes it takes forever to get into the menu. other than that many of recent reviews (at the time) i read were really positive saying ubi kinda got their shit together with uplay and the game was nice and tons of fun.
>>315381982
I bought theCollector's Editionfew weeks after launch and I know how much of a disaster it was. But no one is gonna skim 1000+ reviews to whisk what they complain about. They're gonna go by the numbers.
>>315382161
If you include the devs in that "no one" then that makes them even more fucking retarded as if they'd just changed things for the hell of it.
>>315375229
They are both equally good, so it depends on which theme is more appealing to you.
I'd say 2070 is a little bit more 'complex' because there are 'factions'. It's not better or worse, just a little different.
Anyway, the'yre both worth a try, get whichever looks better to you.
>>315375229
If you prefer the 'classic' Anno theme I'd recommend 1404, while if you want to play in the complexity of global politics, ecobalance and the factioned future... 2070
>>315370559
I see what you did here
>>315378887
Of course.
You first get in the game because of the ambiance, you stay for the comfy and fun strategics.
