Wyverns you can kinda see how different branches would evolve. Things like Barroth or the -ggis don't fly as much and their front limbs become less muscular like a flightless bird. Things like Tigrex overuse their front limbs for four-legged movement and if they no longer fly, it allows things like Zinogre to exist with more muscle on their front legs than back.

If talking current MH/MH4U, GS is by far the best weapon, it works better than other weapons against basically 90 % the monsters in the game. Gore Magala, Shagaru Magala, Rathalos, Rathian, Azure, Pink; Fatalis, Mohran, the snake elder dragon, Zinogre, Rajang, Deviljho and more.
Usually only topped in clear time by guns when doing absolutely everything right and beingt autistic. Perfectly solo gunning is a chore and far from fun, though. What makes GS the best weapon is not only that it clears shit faster than other weapons, it's also extremely easy to use. Hell, you can just hit and run the monster's head the whole time with Crit. Draw and maybe Punishing Draw and you'll get a moderate clear time most the time.
MH4U is extremely imbalanced. One reason I don't like it that much. There are not enough monsters that are NOT good for GS. It's missing monsters like Ivory or Abyssal Lagiacrus with horns that make their faces too hard to hit and run for scrubs. Or Nargacuga that's just so fast, you are way better off using Dual Blade.
Worst thing is that Hammer is absolutely terrible since MH3U because the Superpound was nerfed and other weapons now for some retarded reason do more KO damage.

Isn't either the head or tail reachable 90 % the time? Even when you can jump on him which everyone does when they have the chance, you can just stay where the head is and, when you time it correctly, land level 3 charges on its head until it falls over... which means 20 seconds more level 3 charges on its head. And when it's exposing its chest and going wild, you can jump and do mid-air attacks to hit its head the whole time until it falls over again.

And it doesn't matter how often you have to fight them or how similar they are. If you don't enjoy at least fighting 70 % the monsters in the game and just enjoy fighting them for the sake of fighting them and gameplay, you should not play Monster Hunter anyway. Only retarded casuals play it for the grind and fancy armors (which of course are great, too, especially due to armor mixing).
Why is it OK to fight against the same boss in curazy games like Bayonetta or DmC or do the same level a million times in Donkey Kong Country or other platformers or race the same race in racing games but it's somehow "a boring grind" when fighting the same, awesome bosses in MH over and over again and getting better and learning all the weapons?

Mostly the same shit that makes every GQ Apex fucker hard, you don't know where you bounce and where you don't, you're under pressure the whole time because your stones only last a minute, crazy damage output and defense/health. Now Apex Zinogre has those disturbing orbs that still hunt you in your dreams while making that fucking noise.
It also helps that he of course is based on G Rank Zinogre which already has a handful of new moves and changes most people that are new to MH4U aren't used to yet. I stopped counting how many people got killed by his breakdance move after he lay on his back because they all thought it's an opening but it's only an opening when he isn't in rage mode. One-hit kill.

Its only the GQ version that are hard and it because it starts fully charged, spams pink bugs that para you and do half your life and it has a crazy hip check that would make eve Plesioth blush. The Fury on the Mount version isn't to bad since it doesn't start out charged. Also its soft points are not its weak points so it can be pretty damn annoying to fight without Drive.
Are there any actually decent armor sets that let me see my Hunter's head and/or face? I spent some time giving him this seasoned vet look, but instead I get a lovable goof in armor during cutscenes.
I'd even be willing to practice a new weapon type for this.
