It was fun for a couple weeks, but then it got boring again.

In the original Tekkit modpacks, they had a mod called Equivalent Exchange
The idea behind this mod was that you could use a form of material value called EMC which you could use to trade different materials and blocks for other materials and blocks based on the same EMC value. Really the energy condenser is just the tool in which you use to do this. An example could be that an iron ingot would be worth 1024 EMC and a diamond would be worth 8192 EMC, so you would need to exchange 8 iron ingots for 1 diamond.

Except for the part the game starts lagging if you've walked more than 20 chunks away from wherever you were and chunks despawning and turtles inside it shutting down, making that self-coded quarry and chest manager programs useless if you dont stay in a dorfly base

No floating islands or anything. There's a "crazy" superworld mode that doubles the height limit for terrain generation and allows lots of weird shit like spires and gigantic valleys to spawn, and that's pretty much the best you're ever going to get.
The game itself is still completely pointless. It would be awesome if content was gated similarly to Terraria or (what would have been) Starbound, but all they add in each update is just more shitty building blocks and more additions to the nether or the end world that just pad out the game's filesize rather than adding anything to actually do.

I know it's popular to hate mobile gaming, but I like relaxing in bed and playing Survivalcraft on my phone. The touch controls take a few hours/days of getting used to, but in some ways it actually works better than kb&m or controller.
Most people can't stand the idea of playing Minecraft solo (Survivalcraft has no multiplayer), and I know there's autism this and boring that, but for me, it's zen just to have a pocket virtual 3D sandbox I can run around in and play with whenever I want.

Haven't played since Microsoft bought them. Its basically a given that the promise to open the source code to make Minecraft Free Software is never going to happen and that the Windows 10 exclusive version will soon be the only version that gets attention.
Other infiniminer inspired projects have my interest now. Hopefully one of them that's Free Software from the start catches on and builds the things we all wanted initially.

Microsoft could conceivably still release the source of an eventual Windows-only version of the game in order to attempt to attract more developers to their ecosystem. There are companies that have built billion dollar businesses off of Free Software after all.
However, if Microsoft were to follow through with that promise they would almost certainly use one of their non-free licenses for that code in order to prevent its being ported to other platforms.
That's why other infiniminer inspired projects are now more interesting.

I believe the best generator for Equivalent Exchange in the original Tekkit involved milk buckets. You had a cow basically hooked up to a machine that had buckets inserted into it, with milk buckets leaving it. The milk buckets would go into a condenser that turned the EMC back into regular buckets, which went back to the cow, with excess EMC left over. Eventually the milk buckets would back up and you would have a pipe for excess milk buckets leading to a separate condenser to be converted into EMC to use however you pleased.
Once it got up to speed, you could make multiple diamond blocks per second. It was basically a creative mode machine that could dispense anything you wanted.

I've been periodically working on a megabuild project for a few years now. it would be completed a long time a go if I really had dedicated time to it, but I just work on it here and there. I always wanted to build a Castlevania-esque castle with gigantic rooms, sections with thematics like in the games that link to each other and span across an island the size of a small city and I always wanted it to be unrealistically big. So that's what I'm doing, building a GIGANTIC castle that, when they see it, people will go "this guy is just fucking crazy."
So far I've been searching around forums and websites dedicated to Minecraft and nobody has made a Castle as big as mine. Sure, I am far from a master builder and, aesthetically there are a SHITLOAD of builders who create maps and buildings that are more detailed and pretty than mine. Also there have been several bigger projects than mine in terms of size and ambition like city reproductions, megalopolis and RPG maps, but as far as one SINGLE castle go, nobody has made one as big as mine.
Maybe it'll be complete when I die of old age or some shit, but it's been 3 years so far and I'm not even close to completion.

In 4craft, everyone's always backstabbing everyone and a game that's supposed to be about boards banding together to fight against each other end up being a bunch of scattered retards walking around and killing each other/griefing shit with a few people making alliances under the banner of their favorite boards while 80% of the other board islands are fucking empty and barren.

As soon as the game starts, almost all of them already have their shitty pony skins and talk like Deviantart tier teenagers in the chat, they quickly identify each other and band and while everyone is busy eating their own shit and fucking trees, they have already established defenses, gathered ressources, armed themselves and build strongholds. and they lose no time marching on any other board that is trying to grow bigger than them.
In this light, I'd say ponyfags actually know how to play the fucking game and win, but most of the times I've been there, the mods were ponyfags themselves, so at one point in the game it was inevitable that they'd start to cheat and have the support of the admins and mods of the server so nobody is able to do shit and they end up winning.

How does Tekkit work when it comes to incompatbility?
I looked at an official modpack called Attack of the B-Team, I like the list of mods it includes.
Attack of the B-Team is recently updated for Minecraft 1.6.4, the problem is the mods it includes has plenty of things that aren't even close to that version.
Does that mean they'll be broken? Or were they updated by this modpack creator?
