On hindsight, most of the charities you know about here in the UK are just pathetic africa based constant pleas for money, the only exception being certain cancer research charities and that's only because you hear in the news about a fun run event in the news.
All of the actually useful ones that are based locally are funded mostly by either the National Lottery or something like Red Nose Day/Children in Need etc, and you get free TV shows for that alone.

Asides from the Super Hornet and the Sabre the main kicker for more than half the ships is the fact they're multi-crew and the price tag is an indicator of how much you NEED players to help run it, which means you can effectively split that price tag between you since they can't pilot their own ships while they're doing that.
The most expensive single seater with LTI is basically P2W for a few years if you actually make use of it to attack cheaper single seater ships, otherwise you need groups to overcome the multi-crew ships.

Never underestimate a game company to give you less than what they promised. Frontier was able to break their single-player promise with it's half-baked solo mode and Star Citizen could break this promise with just a moddable Arena Commander and keeping universe mechanics on their servers. How else will they keep running their cash shop?

Also consider Braben didn't just break one promise, he under delivered on basically everything compared to the previous games in the Elite franchise let alone the genre and all for too small a budget.

It requires at least 100 workers and a budget of 120 million to even finish on time atm.
