>no responsibilities or bills
>spend money on new PC and vidya

Fuck how do you fellow wage slaves do it?

I spent nearly $1,250 for my i7 4790K and GTX 980 gaming a few months ago and around $2,500 on vidya since and I haven't even bothered to install 99.9% of them.
>>
Alcohol. Allows me to tune out and enjoy what little vidya tiem I have at the end of the day.
>>
A week is 168 hours long. if you're working 38 hours, you've still got 130 hours to eat, sleep, game. 8 hours for sleep per night leaves you over 10 hours a day to eat and game. If you can't find the time, you're doing something wrong.

Not to sound conceited but I would rather not play with a 3DS or any handheld gaming system in public. Maybe mobile games then?
>>
>>315273605

Something tells me time isn't the problem. I don't know, maybe because of the image and the fact he didn't bother to install the games.
>>
You have to organize your day intelligently. Also make sure you're sleeping enough. I always felt like I'd have no time in the day after work and the gym so I'd stay up late every night to try to squeeze stuff in but I eventually realized that getting 5 hours of sleep actually wasted time in my day.
I would take longer to do things and often have to take a nap during the day.

I now go to bed at 930pm, wake up at 530am, work from 630-300, gym from 400-530, which leaves me 4 hours to do whatever I want.
>>
>>315273320
What job? Also do you have any friends or anyone to talk to/hang out?
>>
>>315273870

So you're an insecure manchild that is fine with playing mobile shit in public because society views that as ok, as opposed to handhelds?

I guess vidya feels more like a chore to me when I can be doing stuff like funposting on /v/, street photography, drinking tea at the cafe etc.

Learn to shiftwork. I make $1250 a week on average and fit all of my work into 2 12 hour days and 2 12 hour nights. I then get 4-5 days off in a row, on average. I'm just coming off 7 days off, and after this next cycle I have 8 days off to play fallout 4.

So yeah....git gud.

>>315274063

Sounds like you're getting burnt out. I had a similar problem a while back. I realized I was impulse buying games and playing only the tutorial and part of the first level before dropping it for another impulse buy. I was chasing the dragon, or that spark/feeling of total immersion and fun, but that wasn't the problem. I was burnt out from too much too fast and my ever-growing backlog sure didn't help.

If I were you, I would take a break from vidya. I did two months, but even a few weeks would probably help. When you come back to the hobby, you have to treat it more like when you were a kid and couldn't mass-buy games. I mean, face it, with more adult responsibilities you'll inevitably have less time for vidya, which means now more than ever you have to pick and choose.
>>
>>315274063
Here's an idea. Maybe as you grow older your interests shift from video games to other things and there is nothing wrong with that?

Take a break for a while and eventually you'll get the urge to play again.

You've just got to start spreading it out.

What I do with a new release is weigh it. How important is it to me personally, and why? Do I really want to play it for the story/gameplay? Am I getting it to be part of the fresh discussion? Is my choice influenced by multiplayer, or is it a single player only title?

When I do make a purchase, I try to stick with it and get the most out of it. For example, I know the next vidya I'll be buying on release is CoD, because I want to play with all my friends. Fallout 4 is coming out soon, but I can comfortably wait for a price drop since I have Fatal Frame to tide me over until CoD comes out, and then I'll be playing that for a decent amount of time.

Pace yourself.

That's why most young people after graduating high school are emigrating to other countries. Every year they're trying to make it even harder to get into universities/colleges or graduate from them. Even with a good qualification you're not sure you'll get a job, but I think it's everywhere like this. The education and our government is fucked.

Maybe you could get by with 300 euros, but not if you're renting a place or having a house/bigger apartment. And it still would be pretty hard.

And yeah, they can move through countries freely, only need to have a passport.

Neet masterrace here. While you're at work for 8-10 hours a day, I'm enjoying whatever I wanna do. Vidya, anime, fappin, you name it.

>inb4 hurr parents house

My mom and dad love having me around. It makes them feel useful. And when they take me to cash my neetbux each month, I buy them lunch at authentic sushi restaurants and we go shopping for new manga and shit.

I'm teaching myself to produce dance music in my free time. These are just a few things I do while you wage slaves waste your lives.

I'll take 'Things That Never Happen' for $1,000, Alex.

No, seriously, every neet I've ever spoken to has said the same shit as you.

>i get neetbux
>my parents don't mind me living with them
>here's a superficial list of things i claim to be doing with all my free time
>i'm happier than you are

Yet when I talk to these folks later on in life, say, a year or so, they seem gradually more miserable. All of those things they'd claimed to be doing a year prior are suddenly on the backburner, or on hiatus, or they've switched gears and have new pursuits.

I mean, I used to be a neet for a long time as well, I know the lifestyle. Every neet inevitably stumbles into that pitfall, and it's a slippery slope. You wake up, you fap, you watch anime/movies/play vidya. You jump on /v/ for a few hours to shitpost about being a neet and how your life is infinitely better than everyone else's because you've chosen to be a hedonist and the people in your life are enabling you.

Yet, when you go to sleep at night, you lay your head down on the pillow and realize, 'Oh, I didn't work on my dance music today. Well, maybe tomorrow.'.

But tomorrow never really comes, because every day it's the same result. You wake up, you fap, you watch anime/movies/play vidya. You shitpost on /v/ for a few hours about being a neet and how your life is infinitely better than everyone else's. Then you go to sleep at night, and you realize, 'Oh, I didn't work on my dance music today. Well, maybe tomorrow.'.

It's a vicious cycle. Addicts make the same kind of excuses you do, neet. Your lifestyle is unsustainable.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

That's not how sleep works, you don't magically "catch up" on rest by sleeping more on weekends.

The absolute best thing you can do for your sleep patterns is get into a schedule. Go to bed at the same time every night and getting up at the same time maximizes the rest you get each night, as well as many studies have linked better cognitive function to a better sleep schedule.

more like you start doing it the first few weeks later you become tired to even take shower and games don't fill the void being the only person stuck in time, people who you used to know are moving on with their lifes , meeting new people , traveling exp. food and places that you never even heard off.

Meanwhile I am a neet for 14 years.
My mom died 3 years ago and the only thing that she kept telling my father is to help me find a job.
My father actually told me I should just kill myself.

I am still living with my father and making some extra money with being a camwhore for gay guys.

A honest tip for all you guys , never become a neet like me.
You can be a neet for a year or 3 but once you go over the line of 3 years you will end up like me.

I'm surprised this hasn't come up yet around the whole exercise/sleeping tips mentioned in this thread.

You eat like crap, you feel like crap. When I switched from take out/fast food to cooking at home, I felt so SO much better.
It's easy as fuck, too. Just dedicate twice a week to grocery store trips on the way home from work, and keep lists to make sure you know what you want. Grocery stores can be overwhelming when you don't know what the fuck you want, so write down stuff that you run out of/want to get during the week.

I don't hate them for the form of entertainment that they are, despite genuinely having now that shitty dinosaur belief that they are the ultimate form of wasting time. I hate them because I got so nittpicky about them. When I play them I think and evaluate them more from a developer standpoint than that of a player. Terrible pacing, unnecessarily long load times, menus that aren't quick or responsive and require 5 seconds of needless animations between switching etc. You a random new game and think "does this shit game really expect me to waste my time on it?". Then I just load up retro ps1 and ps2 games and play those for half an hour before switching around or whatever.

Yeah, I reached a point where I can buy a game and it stays on my shelf unopened for months up to a few years on end.

I keep telling myself I'm gonna have a session with that one game I haven't finished or opened and just feel like doing something else. Vidya makes me think of when I had something to look forward to. Life feels a bit empty and I'm sure I've become estranged from my friends from letting it get to me too easily.

As a kid I didn't have much of a reality to care about, so playing games for escapism was okay. Nowadays my reality is all I can think about to the point it's a bother to put 2 hours in a game that isn't on an emulator, even though I have some consoles and a PC that can run most games. At least that's useful for some other things besides gaming.

Whether I'm NEET or working, it's just the same shit on repeat.

What I found personally to be very effective is to stop downloading (or in your case buying) games. Keep multiplayer games installed and ready, but stick with no more than one single player game at the time. You will actually get more tied to it and won't get into "gosh I have 50 games, I dont know which one to continue". One game at a time.

As far as reality goes... as a self employed high school drop out, I don't really have a bright future ahead of me. I'm taking it one day at a time, and even then that one day is hardly filled with things. Learn to leave work at the work place, once you get home there honestly is no point to worrying as there is nothing you can do about it. Split your mental attitude and mood depending on what you are doing and where you are. I can also recommend redecorating your home a bit, not everything but find a really nice color that you like and paint the walls, maybe save a bit and get a nice new sofa for console games, stuff like that. Adjust your home environment so that it's a bit more cozy and relaxing to you.

In the end, you don't miss out on anything by not playing video games. I'd much rather have a super busy social life and only get to play one game a month, and have a blast with that game, than to play 2 hours of limpy dicked equivalent every day and hate both myself and those games for it.

Unfortunately I don't think we are all going to make it, one way or another.

>It's the law

Not in America

There are laws specifically protecting employers from being sued over expecting their employees to do work at home for no pay.

The only real legal requirement is that every hour of work that you do on property your employer owns has to be compensated. That's why when you work from home you sign a contract that forces them to pay you even though you aren't on the company's property.

If you're legally salaried exempt, then you're dicked. In which case if you're not happy with your job, you should consider changing careers.

But the fact that OP mentioned only working 38 hours means that they're not salaried exempt, because there's nothing to prevent an employer from making a salaried exempt worker work 60+ hours.

If you're non-exempt, you have to get paid for every hour you work, and companies get sued ALL THE GOD DAMNED TIME over that.

You should look up Right to Work laws and policies. Some parts of America are fucked.

>Except that companies get sued over that all the god damned time

Literally has never happened in any state I've ever lived in. Considering it's my job to know that kind of shit, I'd say you're pretty much full of shit.
>>
>>315293745

Yeah, a lot of people are just really kinda, um, pushovers. I knew a guy at my job that worked huge overtime, for free, at home with no compensation. Even the vice president (we're a tiny company) asked him to stop doing it; but he just kept it up until they salaried him. And then bitched about it. Constantly.

Honestly most companies aren't unreasonable, as long as you put your foot down and aren't just shirking your job every day they will probably be fine with it. Just have a fucking backbone.

Here you go, an employment law firm that says literally the opposite.
>>
>>315293902

Yes, they can fire your for anything. Unless you bring nothing unique to the table it probably isn't worth it to try and hire a new guy and train him to your level for something so minor. Have some confidence in your abilities.

Sadly this.

At least while drunk, I manage to start up some games and play, even if its just for 5 minutes,

This is hell. I'm suffering in school now because I can't get the effort to do homework now.

If I had a job, I'd at least have money. I doubt my vidya habits would change.

Why do you keep buying things you're not playing? That seems like a pointless waste of money.

Even if you were paying full price $60 for brand new games, then you'd have to buy a new game every 10 days to hit that mark. Why are you buying a new game almost every week if you're not playing them?

Anon, a living wage is only as high as the cost of living. It's all relative.

You're focusing too much on dollar amount and using it as a penis size measurement when it doesn't have to be.

Friday nights and weekends bro. Also plan your vacation time wisely. I like to do it before Christmas break from work so you get a long stretch. And you can take a couple sick days a year right before a long weekend.

It sucks but that's the life of a wage slave. I at least live with my parents still so I don't have to worry about rent and food.
>>
You aren't managing your time well. I spend time on this shitty site because I have too much of it; in a few minutes, ill probably start playing video games and wont stop till midnight. But if you have a full-time job, stop wasting your free time complaining on /v/ and make yourself play some games. You WILL thank yourself.

If you have enough time to shitpost on /v/ then you have enough time for vidya too.
