40' HDTV or 27' IPS monitor for PS4?
If that IPS monitor is > 1080P, it is a waste for console gaming. Get the biggest 1080p screen you can afford, no matter how close you sit.

No point in getting a 27" monitor if you aren't going to go 1440p and there's no reason to get a 1440p monitor for a console. If you're not going to be using that monitor for PC gaming as well, the TV would be the better choice.
27-inch 1440p monitor is ebin for PC use, but for PS4 you just want to stick to television.
The HDTV would be a better investment, games and movies are super-impressive on large displays. You could also plug your PC into it if you're interested in that down the line.
TV for comfy couch gaming
Straight up, go big as possible. Get a surround sound system too.
LOl i got a 55 inch samsung tv for pc gaming, me friends be like, your a retard for gaming with a T.V a IPS monitor is so much way better then ur overpriced T.V. 6 months on they all constantly sell their shitty monitors, while i sit back and game my ass off on my 55 inch tv still. lol T.V is the way man.
