Kind of.
It innovates on turn based rpg, which is nice and golden sun didn't. However, it has an interesting story with interesting lore hidden behind a bunch of lackluster characters and mediocre writing, especially the one in OP.
I mean, you have to understand that the main characters are boring as fuck and that only the first half of the game is interesting. Infact the interest dwindles around the time you get to the fire crystal continent and it goes from great to meh.
Theres a bunch of lore and interesting facts about the villains in the repeat chapters but you have to actually do the repeat sidequests and read the journals to get it.

Not really. Golden Sun is a bad series that got popular because there was nothing else really around. Bravely Default is a good game but its reputation got tarnished by "CHAPTER FIVE" meme. I don't really understand it since if you don't want to be a compleitionist you can finish that segment in 2 hours top. Most JRPGs have a few hours that just suck so I don't see what made BD so differently. The end game was worth it.

Turn based JRPGs need good stories or interesting characters to encourage people to keep playing them since we've been playing games with the same FF battle system for over 20 years now and it's boring.
The Brave/Default gimmick isn't enough to make up for the boring gameplay and story.

Eruca and maybe Raynie, that's it. Unlike those Aht doesn't need any specific items or anything to deal good damage.

Well apparently (spoiler time)there is only one loop, but you specifically go back to save people and make the opposite of your choices in the first loop.Not sure exactly how that works, but it sounds like it's mostly done for completeness rather than just to be annoying and chew up time.
