Whether OPs post is bait or not, I bought a PS4 for college and I don't really miss PC gaming too much.
For a while I absolutely refused to buy multiplats so I could binge on vidya when I get home in the summer but recently I bought both GTAV and Bloodborne and I've been having fun.
Coming off PC gaming the only way I can accurately describe playing on a console is like going from console gaming to handheld gaming.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but the funs there.

It looks roughly in the same vain as the PS2 era, with Nintendo getting it's basic and expected games. Microsoft getting it's basic games and more fun action orientated shooters. Sony with it's weeb games and first party titles / new IPs. It all looks damn good.
But PC seems to have dropped off (idort btw).
Back in the olden days we had everything from Starcraft, WoW, Warcraft, Command and Conquer, Sims, F.E.A.R, Half Life, Fallout, Planetscape, Deus Ex, Doom, Unreal Tournament. Fuck, PC was definitely a viable alternative to consoles but now, I hear all this talk about 'golden era' and I just don't see it.
Whenever I ask a PC gamer what they look forward to they either pick:

My problem is that I have too many games to play. Anyway the games themselves were never the draw of PC gaming for me. Sans UT and pretty much every RTS game. It was always more about the freedom, control schemes and modding which I do more than anything else. I would much rather spend the weekend working on a shader and adapting and configuring it to inject it on a game than play bloodborne at 30fps.

Hilariously enough, online communities are dead because there are actually so many damn games that people are scattered across so many, rather than the fewer that we used to have. There are too many games across the span of large, medium and small sized development companies.
Oh and Steam is a big factor, not only do they flood the market with shit, their Nazi anti-cheating measures has made playerbases smaller. Tons of people back in the day played games online with pirated copies. When we had cheaters, we left the server for another one and there were so many servers (peer to peer and hosted) that you'd quickly find one with mods online who'd ban the fucker from their server.

MGSV is without a doubt going to be a great game, and a hugely popular one, and for several weeks, countless gamers around the world will play the same game at the same time. Judging by snippets of info leaked by Kojima, it seems MGSV itself will have an incredible depth, and I guess we can expect the same from MGO3, so obviously it'll the kind of game people will play for a very long time.
And I'd tend to think it's going to last. MGO & MGO2's communities were incredibly strong and lasting on PS2 and PS3 despite the servers closing, and now that people managed to host their own servers, it's still going strong. It's certainly going to last on PS4, and considering the many people getting the PC release, I think it'll last on PC too. Now we can only hope the online will be cross platform and it'd be even better.
This seems to me to be the next and perhaps the last "big and good game everyone will play".

As an idort myself as well, I disagree with you. I find myself buying a game for each one of my consoles, PC, and handhelds every month. I never have a game that I don't want, that's coming out.
Although with PC, I rarely play any games on Steam. I get my multiplats on PS4, and use it as a "I didn't feel like playing this multiplat when it was released but I'll play it now since it's $10 on sale a year later" machine.
I mostly use it for emulators. Not many PC exclusives I can say that I'm interested in.

Take Two released Borderlands, Bioshock, and Civ. Consoles got plenty releases, among which GTAV.

I recently listened to /v/ and upgraded to PC. All I’ve had was dread and neglect.
When I saw Bloodborne get confirmed exclusive to the PS4 I legit teared up. All I had to show for my $900 rig were a few toaster exclusives that didn’t even require a gaming rig and consolized ports optimized like garbage. Every online based game that wasn’t a prehistoric FPS (like Counter Strike and TF2) or an MMO/MOBA (like WoW/Dota) had a weak as fuck community that for the most part died in a matter of weeks. Apparently all my fellow PCbros were too busy jerking over their rigs on /r/masterrace and /v/ to bother to play games, the other PCbros on TF2/Dota (etc) were all ruskies that owned pitiful netbooks.
Finding out GTA V and MGSV were delayed also triggered me greatly.
I frequent reddit /r/masterrace and /v/ just so I can feel apart of a ‘master race’. So far this title (that for the most part gets laughed at) has been the only saving grace of gaming on PC.
Seeing the PS4 lists always trigger me greatly, knowing that a cheaper alternative is getting these great games, seeing all the rave and hype at IGN/E3 revolve around this console just saddened me to the point of alcoholism. Why do developers treat us like this? We are humans too, we have feelings.
This isn’t a falseflag, just a confession,. I will not upgrade my PC any further and instead buy a PS4 and Wii U.
