OP, all you need to do is get one set of low rank armor and keep upgrading your weapon when you can't whack monsters without recoil and you're good.
It'll take 1 hour tops to get a decent set of armor and weapon.
After that, you're golden if you know how to dodge or block, depending on your weapon.

The input reading is super blatant this game, more so than the other games. Half the time when a monster charges they'll do it so they'll end up where I'm running to based on the direction input I'm holding. Or when I'm low on health they beeline for me and won't let up, and start using the most broken spazzy attacks they've got to try and catch me in bullshit for the cart. Or if I'm poisoned they'll stay on my ass ignoring the cats so I can't pop an antidote without having their claws buried up my ass.
And this is high rank, I can't imagine the bullshit that's in g rank. 3U didn't really bust out the input reading and psychic monsters until late into G2, from what I rememebr. Even FU G rank didn't pull the kind of bullshit I've seen in 4G so far.

It would make sense if the monsters become exhausted as fuck after their rage ends and so a tactic would be to run around and try to exhaust it as much as possible during the rage Maybe stuff like hunting horn could have specific songs for taunting monsters into rage faster while your party is able to handle it and prepared to take advantage of their vulnerability when they're tired. Of if not, hell, lower the monster defense while enraged, they're mad as fuck and less focused on being cautious and defending themselves, and would also reward riskier play.

You have to keep in mind that the way a monsters attacks scale against the player is significantly different to against another monster.
Monsters also don't have invulnerability periods like players do after taking a hit or being knocked down so if the attack as multiple damage frames they are all hitting. I've seen an enraged Savage Deviljho's breath attack one shot a Great Wroggi.

Any tips for Guard Lancing? Especially when playing online? I have a hard enough time pulling off counters, but I can pretty much forget it when I'm playing online. Especially against fast and agile monsters like Teostra it seems that pulling off a Lv 3 counter is all but a vain attempt. Honestly, it feels like I haven't got much of a clue at all how to play as a Guard Lancer. Not in an effective manner at least.

Things that you could have done to avoid this from happening:
>Not stood in front of his fucking mouth. Rathalos has a long animation before he begins his roar, and EVERYTIME he roars, he will hop back and shoot. Position yourself to not get hit by the fire.
>Delay getting up. You can't be hit during the majority of the standing animation, so don't get up right away
>Waggle faster to get rid of stun. This is actually a really annoying mechanic.
>Again, delay getting up if you suspect you will get fucked by the wind.
Basically, while getting comboed sucks, and it is possible to get stuck in a combo with no hope of escape, in this case you had nobody to blame but yourself.
If you are not competent at dodging, maybe use a weapon you can block with. Even if it isn't your primary method of defence, a quick block when you are in a bad position is better than getting into a combo.
How do you beat the unicorn and SSJ3 monkey in the dlc quest? Is HR7 high enough to beat it? I've already taken on some elder dragons like akantors and kushalas.

A Triple charged Might seeded and Might Pilled GS with crit draw will do much more damage than a bomb (Sleep is only for one hit, so when one bomb hits thats the sleep hit.) The best set up is for the GS to hit the monster when fully buffed and then someone hit the bombs when it wakes up after the GS hits it.

I guess asking what the fun is is a good question. I think the only fun I had was the fight with legiacrus then I stopped playing. Even that took me 40 hours to get to. I really didnt like the controls either, and the game does do a shitty job on telling you what to do or how to do it.
Played on the Wii U, dunno if the 3DS was better.
MH4U is pretty easy though. I'm up to the 4 star village quests and I'm still using the upgraded starting armor. Never failed a quest.

I guess you're new to MH? Most monster charges past FU will track you until a certain point, but they can only turn so sharply. This is why back in FU it was easier to dodge Tigrex up close than far away; he had less time to correct. If charges didn't track they'd just be massive unthreatening openings.

Yes, that's plenty. Gear is useful and it's best to have a weapon of the appropriate rank and sharpness for the monster you're fighting, but armor's impact is much smaller, even with skills.

Magala can be a bitch for new players, it's kinda fast and can deal some nice dmg especially if you have shitty armor.
But it's different for everyone, I raped monsters that everyone finds difficult, but had a hard time with others that not so many complain about.
If you fight a monster a few times, you'll know it's moveset and can tell what is going to happen next so it get's very easier later on.

What I like to do is pitfall a flying monster, then flash it when it jumps out of the trap. Give you a nice 20 seconds to go to town on it.

Stealth Glaive is a good path.
Don't and match armor pieces randomly. A good early armor set to make is the Velociprey or Tetsucabra set.
Hit different monster parts with your bug for different essences. In general, Head=Red, Body=Orange, Legs/Wings=White. Red gives you a stronger moveset, white improves speed and jump, Orange is defense. Combining them gives extra effects like attack bonus and earplugs.
I'm more pissed off about the N3DS' shitty joystick because of my constant character movement.
I'm afraid I'll break it at any time with this game.
